This is For People Who Have BBs 1 year+
(7 posts)-
This is dedicated to you!!
I've been reading posts recently about people who have bbs for a year or more. These people do not post here often because I feel they are judged more than anyone else here and are afraid to admit that have an ongoing infestation.
Questions and comments like: just move, are you SURE you still have bbs, maybe it's something else, you can't have bbs because there's no evidence, etc. and so on. All of these statements leads these people to believe that they are doing something wrong. Well, they are not. For some reason, these people have bbs for a long time. These people are doing all that they can in the situations that they are in.
Do not judge them, support them!
I truly believe getting rid of bbs requires different skills w/many different variables in different situations. You can be doing all you can 99% and all you hafta miss is that 1% and well, you still have them because you need that 100% total eradication. And you may never know what that 1% is. These skills also require to use things that people may not know anything about..steaming, applying pesticides, etc. which when not done correctly, can be dangerous. Some people do not have these skills and some people do. This can also contribute to the success or failure of bbs.
So, I just wanted to dedicate a post to those people who may feel isolated at times.

To those who have been fighting the battle for 1+years.... my heart goes out to you. There should be no judgement...just support. DeathToBBs is right about how difficult it can be to achieve 100% eradication. That 1%....a couple of eggs.... keep up the fight for success.

Oh please share your stories. There should be no judgement. We can all learn from your experiences. Keep up the good fight.

Yeah I have had them for not one but TWO years now. Got a row of three bites on my chest, though the problem doesnt seem to be getting worse.

We are in our 13th month of treatment. My sister just got bitten Monday. No one else has been in a couple months, but she slept on the sofa twice in four weeks and got a bite each time. I am getting ready to post about that for suggestions. But, I have been judged and advised to wait until I see a bug, and it has been suggested that we no longer have them even though my sis has had two bites. If is wait until I see a bug, it could be a year's worth of a daily growing infestation. That is not acceptable. But, I am still here seeking advice, no as much support, facts, tips, strategy, etc. Nothing has been able to console me in this situation except the progress in erradicating the bugs. This site has been invaluable for knowledge and I do not know what I would have done without it. But support, no so much. That's okay with me, though.

Don't give up everyone!!!! You can eliminate them!!!! Make sure you have a good plan and a good company!!! Stick with a small/medium company that you get along with...

If you are a tenant in a building where the landlord/management company hires an ineffective PCO (due to cost cutting) and the PCO treats ineffectively and the landlord/management won't disclose or educate the building and has absolutely no bedbug policy (even to the point of letting tenants drag mattresses in from the dumpster and letting them keep them in the common areas of the building, even when notified in writing that this practice is going on) ... well, then there is nothing you can do. I've called reputable PCOs but they won't treat where another firm is treating. Makes sense. One firm can use a pesticide that negates another. It could even be dangerous.
Our new even-cheaper PCO firm now says that we no longer **have** bedbugs in the building because they haven't seen any on the glue traps! Well, we do have bedbugs. We've had them in our building for years and they have never completely gone away. You have to bring bedbugs in a building to a count of zero, not down to a count of a few hidden in the wall voids or wherever. If you don't get them to a count of zero, they cycle back up... and quickly.
You have to get rid of every single bedbug in the building and educate tenants how not to bring them back in, or you will have bedbugs forever. I am living proof. My building will never get rid of bedbugs, ever. You might even move into my building, or a building like it. They don't tell tenants moving in that we have bedbugs and have had them for years. Welcome, neighbor. Wherever you move, unless it is a single family house, there could be bedbugs. We are living the future and the future is bedbugs.
