Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » Tales of Bed Bug Woe
They're biting me and my toddler but not my partner!
(6 posts)-
Its so horrible; my little boy is itching and has learnt the word "scratch" because of this close encounter. We got a few bites about 6 months ago and had the bedroom sprayed 3 times since. Now I've woken up with little clusters of bites around my eye, my shoulder, my elbow, chest and my back. My little boy looks awful with red marks on his ears and neck plus scratches all over his hands. Funnily enough my partner never gets any!?! Don't they bite men? Moved the bed away from the wall last night - hope that makes a difference. I wash my sheets at 60 degrees but might throw out the duvet and buy a new one. Or just stick to sheets and throws which fit in the washing machine. I'm going to get a visit from a company called Eco-Lab. Hope they know their business. What else should I do? The bed is wooden with a headboard but the legs are metal. The matress is foam. I have foam pillows and foam ones. At the mo. I sleep in a King size bed with my toddler and partner so any heat seeking bed bugs will have no trouble finding us in our flat. The problem is in the whole block, not just our flat and we also have mice at the mo. so according to Wikipedia these will be an extra food source for these bed bugs too!

hello big bad buggs... I have a lil one too.. She learned the words Bed Bugs kinda funny but sucks at the same time.. I took her bed frame apart and completely cleaned it with Murphy's oil soap in a spray(mix according to directions) bottle washed all her bedding in over 150 degree wash water and dryer for 1 and a half hours (on 168 degrees) and bagged it air tight till bed time... NO bites so far.. I also completely isolated her bed in yogurt cups inside of glass bowels Baby powder in the yogurt cups and water in the bowels so far NO buggs.. If you can afford the climbups you might want to go with those...
My husband does not react to the bites at all..
I dont havea duvet but someone does in the forums and may tell you how to deal with it...
I know they will feed on any thing but prefer you and me.. -
Lol at baby saying Bed Bugs!
I just can't believe the amount of washing i'm doing these days.
My electricity bill is through the roof, but if I'm getting bitten I feel I have to wash all the sheets and pillow covers.
It's the bed, the pillows and the duvet I can't fit in the machine that's really worrying me! -
I bought the vacuumed sealed bags and sealed 80 percent of all cloth stuff (right out of dryer) in the house sealed it up and will wait to open it up until I am all cleared.. It has really helped with the power bill...
You have to wash ALL BEDDING don't forget about blankies and stuffed animals..... do you have a laundry mat close you can take the pillows to.. I put all pillows in plastic bags air tight took them to the laundromat put pillows in washer put all bags in another bag air tight put in MY trash can at home so no one else will try to reuse them put all pillows in clean bags not to re infest remember when drying the internal temp has to be above 115 degrees for an hour I did it for an hour and a half but I am paranoid...... I don't know about the duvet...You might want to talk to a dry cleaner about it you HAVE to disclose it is BB infested so they can take the right precautions.. If you cant Afford it you may want to seal it up for 18 months AIR tight...
I had to find humor in the whole BB situation in order to get through it... BB's suck..... -
First of all, have you confirmed that you indeed have bed bugs? That is to say, have you found bugs themselves or fecal matter? Because there are a number of pests that cause bites or bite like responses that aren't bed bugs.
Secondly, if you do indeed have bed bugs, remember that not everyone reacts to the bites and that it can take a while for people who will eventually react to the bites to begin reacting to them. It's possible that your partner is a non reactor who is getting bitten but isn't showing a response yet.
Take a look at the FAQs over at the main site (As opposed to the forums) for more information.

Two years ago, when my neighborhood and building were hit hard by infestations, I was doing laundry when a little boy went up to a dryer, pointed to the glass door and announced "bed bugs". His mother quickly removed him from the room.
They're learning younger and younger these days.
