The first company came and sprayed five times, and finally gave up, they couldn't get rid of the bed bugs. Then the Landlord (we rent, and paid for the first treatment ourselves) sent HIS Pest Control Expert, he sprayed once a month for six months....couldn't get rid of the bedbugs. Then we hired ANOTHER company that charged us $1400.oo to "heat" our apartment. NO BUGS!! For four months!!! Now they are back!!!! How can this be possible???

What is going on around you. Are they being reintroduced. It is unusual that with such intensive measures that the original problem has not been resolved.

Since they treated you last, I'd start by contacting the heat treatment company and see what they can tell you. I've heard of heat treatment companies doing follow up visits, so maybe that's all you need.

Can you determine if the new bedbugs are localized to one area? That might give you a clue.

If your house or unit is connected to any other structures or units where people live, that could be an obvious source of re-infestation. Also, think of where the people in your house go outside the house (work, playgroups, motels, dorm rooms, visits to senior housing). Could any of those places be infested? Who comes into your house regularly? Repair people, school friends, relatives, cleaning people--could any of those people be bringing bedbugs in without you or them knowing? I heard of a group of people that met in each others homes to play bridge. One person was infested and subsequently all the other homes became infested. They think problem was with the pillows one woman brought with her to support her back when she sat in the bridge chair.

I call it "CSI Bedbug." You won't see the show on tv, but it takes some thorough detective work. You know far more about your life than a PCO will so you have to do the detective work.
