I would be amazed to hear that one of your neighbours was not in fact the source of this issue. Bedbugs in bathrooms almost always means adjoining neighbour has bedbugs.
Bed Bugs Limited
As David says, if you're seeing bed bugs (not some other insect) all over your apartment and in common areas, then your building has a serious problem that needs to be addressed in a systematic, professional manner. Simply moving out is a risky proposition with regard to your long-term peace, as you are likely to propagate an infestation in your new place with the bed bugs and eggs you take along. As you've experienced, massive application of DIY products can jeopardize your health and also exacerbate the situation.
We're volunteers here, not your paid servants. We'd have a better idea of what you're looking for help with, if you made an effort to write in sentences and paragraphs, using punctuation and capitalization. Call out your questions.
Meanwhile, please review our FAQ to get a better understanding of what bed bugs are and are not, how to differentiate them from other insects and how to fight them effectively.
well i have been sprayed by pest control 6 times now, i havnt been doing it myself we do spray off once a week and do steam with a shark steam cleaner -
point is we know there is an infestation belowe us we found dead bedbugs in the laundry room the pco admitted they have sprayed the apartments below
he said he would do an inspection and come see us too he never called or showed up he also claims he was okayed to come threw but i am having second thoughts on his kindness i think he is shady, telling me i am the source when i am not getting biten i know i am alergic because i have been biten once
its only my grandma in her bedroom wich is below all other bedrooms, you can hear the neighbours flipped and tossing furniture three in the morning
i have stopped going in any apartments warned my friends of my issue and dont sit on public transportation i have took many cautions including not talking to many friends because i dont want to give them it i dont know how i ""would"" bring them in i am very wary of this situtation i told my pco i am going to public health he laughed and said all i was doing is pissing off my landlord and that pretty soon they would not spray us anymore, because we ""are""" the only ones then we fiind dozens of bugs ! not ours it was off 1 article of clothing the apartment must be infested i feel like just confronting them i am not ashamed i am ticked loosing my mind day by day no sleep
he tells us to worry about our own apartment then we find that, and in our bathtub in all places the tub why not my couch or my grandmas bedroom, i amm going to go crazy
we already know that if we move we need all new furniture but the thing is if we move chances of bedbugs is high hamilton is infested personally i dont think the spray is working
we are using off brand 154% pyrthrins and 90% butox something all raid products are 50% belowe and actual bedbug spary only had thermins idk guys im confused
this pc is a prick i know he is somehow tied into my landlord wich got him the leading contract, left all pest control to starrt his own i know hes charging effort trust for more then giving my landlord cash back to keep contracts
i feel like putting flyers out but my grandma keeps saying no, these bugs are huge that we are finding in our apartment yet we have no bites and we know we react it takes my grandma out of the dead sleep
after taking lorzapam..... this guy is bs we are not the only one if i contact public health will they do anything even know they are spraying
we do have the bugs in a jar with tape pplus photos of what we discoverd
huge and filled with blood
i know what bedbugs are iv had them for 1 year now when i squashed it there was mad blood it was stage 4 nymph i dont know what to do we have cocked put dust down in the walls sticky tape
did our preps threw hundreds of dollars out, bought a new bed everything dude and they are coming back
i just think their comming from the walls the pco said they dont do that but cockroaches do that so why not bedbugs?
hes a complete idiot deep down i think why would he want to rid them ? hes making money yeah its fine for him he has a big brand new house wife and kids
he tellls me to do laundry when i get home but i dont have 6 dollars a day for laundry loads
should i just call public health
You should communicate with your neighbours to see if they are the source of the issue. You need to talk to all those who use the laundry room and verbal communication is always more effective than just putting notices up.
I understand the frustration, with too many people not understanding the issue or not caring.
Some fundamental questions and points:
- All dealings with the building should be between the "head of household" and the manager. Preferably in writing, with documentation. Who is the "head of household" in your home? Who makes the decisions, buys the stuff, etc. This is who needs to lead this effort. If this person is your grandmother, then you need to educate her. If you are caring for her, then you may need to enlist some kind of family service organization to help you.
- Communicate clearly, respectfully and only what is necessary. I'm having difficulty understanding your story. Are you self-applying or not? Are you using "Raid" brand products, "Off" brand (or "off brand") products or both?
(Hint: If I were your landlord or an official and you communicated with me the way you do on this thread, I would not take you seriously.)
- If you get no relief and need to go to authorities, do so, but no prior threats.
- Sprays and steam are effective only if they are applied to the places where bed bugs are. If you miss areas where bugs are, they will continue to thrive there.
- Reading our FAQ and a comprehensive guide from our Resources page will give you authoritative information you can use to compare what the PCOs say and do against what experts understand. Bed bugs do harbor around the perimeter of a room and can travel from unit to unit through the walls and utilities.
- Bed bugs should be expected in the laundry and other common areas of a building with an infestation. Be aware. Load your things directly out of the dryer into a plastic basket. Eyeball the basket (and yourself) before returning to your unit.
- Moving from a severe infestation with any belongings (including the shirt on your back and your wallet) will likely just transfer your problem to the new building.
I suggest you look at this material (pdf) put out for Hamilton landlords and tenants about their respective rights and responsibilities:
It's helpful to know exactly what the laws say landlords and tenants need to do. The section on tenant rights and responsibilities tells you what to do if the landlord is not taking care of the issue.
guys i have done everything looked threw this material and no i have not talked this way to my landlord i have been nice and plesent we are self applying, and why you may ask. He comes in and sprays and a night later we find 5 .... -_-
like really i am starting to get bites in my living room no my grandma is the leader of the house but i am on lease contract, i would respect them im not a mean guy i am just really fed up-
i cant even go to my girlfriends house wich i dont blame her it was my choice to tell her, and my friends and now i am suffering with the conciquences even at school i wasnt allowed in until i told them i was clear
they go away for about 2-3 months then come back with an vengence really and we are told we have encounterd bedbugs somewhere i am not playing the blame game here but to find them in the bathroom and now last night a full grown adult in my living room i purposly tried to get bit to see if i reacted.
AS of spraying i am not laying a whole can down just do my shoes before i enter and leave and spray before bed and dusting we put drill holes in our walls and
last year i asked my rental place to put out a bedbug flyer not claiming we have had bedbugs but just saying to be on the look out where they live what they look like and how they act. nothing last month our pco said yes he is pushingfor the flyers... yet nothing last month he said he would be comming into do a box inspection nothing
i cant move were saying for a new couch bed all new furniture this building is really old too i just not like the straight face looking into my eyes and saying its us only you and no one else
then to hear the pco say that he has been into spray the apartments i was furious
i really think it was a higher power or (reason) who placed those bugs on the washer and dryer at the time i found them i was so depressed and my blood was boiling because we were the only ones then i thought well i feel abit better knowing im not the only one. im really confused my grandma says its war but i cant find the colony.
he called it a light infestation but i call it bs! he knows whats really up and if my landlord got them he'd know what its like i dont wish this upon anyone though just wish they could step into my shoes for a night and see what its like waking up at 4 am itching and ripping apart your bedroom to find the bug i know its all mental and you can drive yourself crazy, you would think i would be used to it but this last spray really took its toll on me from getting powder in my sinuses and getting sick to vomitting from sprays
i admit it was too much but when we first got them i did that. and when we came to spray he only found dead ones so i just figured it would work again but my healths too low right now anyways thanks for letting me vent here
You're not going to be able to eliminate the problem if it's not dealt with building-wide. Professional treatment will be a lot more effective than spraying with RAID.
Re: the PDF I linked to above: look at page 13. It says you should call the Landlord-Tenant Board if the landlord is not dealing with the problem. There's a number given. I would copyit for you but I can't copy and paste from the PDF as I am writing on a phone.
I remember your first post when you were sick. See if you can look at page 13 and get the tenants right group involved. Things have gotten done that way. You may be making it worse by spraying RAID (they scatter and come back). Best of luck to you. You're only 19 and this is a lot to deal with.
