I am in the process of getting my landlord to hire a different PCO, cleaning, and considering moving out. There has been a bedbug problem next door for nearly two years, with periods of respite when exterminators come. We were bedbug free for over 6 months, and now I have bites again and I am sure they are coming in from next door. My question is, how can I help stop them from traveling? I want to be bug free when i move out. We have caulked and sealed outlets, cracks, and the floor moulding. How else could they be traveling?

The title of this thread sounds like a horror flick title.
Sadly, in reality, it's nearly akin to that as well.

Ha! yes it is like a horror flick.
The landlord hired Kingsway again, this time they sent a worker who was much more thorough and attentive. He spent 45 minutes in the apt next door, and said he found no live bugs but lots of evidence over there. yuck.
The bites at my place have dropped off since I did my super DE/dish soap treatment, but I had him spray thoroughly anyway. he will come back 3 more times.

As of today I have had only one more bite, which may be a reaction, but the dog is itching like crazy. I think they may have avoided my DE-sprayed bed and bit her instead. poor thing.

I have found a new apartment, and am pretty sure it is free of bedbugs. I will be moving in July, one bug-free thing at a time. My plan thus far is:

get a packtite for all clothes, books, etc.

get the new bedpost bug monitors, buy a new bedframe and have it delivered to new place. Bring my existing foam mattress, which has a good quality encasement, over to new place after careful inspection. Sleep at the new place for two weeks with the monitors on the bed, to make SURE there are no bugs already there.

get a K9 team in my present apt to check two pieces of wood furniture, two very large picture frames, and the stereo. If they are all clear, clean them thoroughly with murphys oil, and dust with DE before bringing them over.

If all is clear, begin moving stuff over, one packtite load at a time.

    any thoughts or suggestions?
