Thermometers
(5 posts)-
I'm curious how hot my dryer gets. What kind of thermometer can I throw in there with clothes to measure the temp?

At someone's recommendation from this site, I bought an infrared thermometer at Radioshack. At some point in the drying cycle, I open the door real quick, point the thermometer in there, and it tells me the temp. It's a surprising 220 in my case, even though the dryer is 75 years old.
The thermometer + batteries (not included) cost just under $20. -
Well, I know nothing about dry heat, but the boiling point of water is 212F. Apparently, your dryer is a killing machine.

I use a regular digital meat thermometer. Was about $20. The probe is on an oven proof wire, I just pop it in the dryer and close the door.

Pretty sweet, huh?
