Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » Bed Bug Treatment
The Saga Continues, the bites keep coming - and moving and Vikane
(8 posts)-
So I have a new apartment and I'm officially moving in a couple of weeks, dependent on when I can get a Vikane treatment. Can anyone tell me what to expect with Vikane? How much time does it take to fumigate and air out? I'm trying to figure out logistics of when my stuff can be picked up and when I should specify my move-in date.
Also, yesterday I noticed a new fecal stain on my sheet, found two dead bugs yesterday evening and woke up to two new bites today. I've had six treatments from PCOs and KillerQueen is adamant that the bugs are elsewhere in the building. The problem is that my bed is contained so I think the encasement must be ripped in order for me to have been bitten.
Should I have my old place treated before I go with this new development? I'm not taking the bed with me but the fumigation company recomends I have it fumigated with the rest of my stuff before discarding (which I really do NOT want to do).
Thoughts? Recommendations?

Marty,
I know it's hard to believe in the middle of an infestation, but if Vikane is done right, it really will kill all the bugs in a mattress and box spring in a single treatment.
Unlike thermal, you don't have to worry with Vikane about the bugs fleeing to cool spots and surviving. It's gas, so as long as nothing you put in the truck is in plastic and you leave enough room for the gas to circulate, and the company uses the right concentration, you'll kill everything.
If you have the mattress and box spring treated, you're dramatically reducing the chances that some unknowing person will pick them up and take them home and infest themselves and a whole new building. I expect that's why the provider wants to have them treated.

Marty - If you are using bed bugs & beyond - please post back afterwards and let us know if they were successful
I would really be curious to know if they are more effective now than they were last year when they did my fumigations like 3 times because they could not seem to get it right

I sure will. They're doing chamber fumigation for me and I spoke to the president of the company and the moving company they work with and I'm feeling very comfortable with them. I'm so sorry for everything you've been through, Adele, and I'm hoping that this will go well.
Did they require that you have the new place treated or inspected before they would allow you the guarantee?

aahhh Marty - that is very sweet of you - thank you
well some people have it easier than others in fighting the good fight against BB- my bad luck I suppose
i like to think that lady luck will make up for it in some other way
to answer your question - no they did not require that the new place was inspected or treated but they did recommend it and I did both
I wish you all the best of luck - when is this going to happen?
I think you will know within a week or 2 if it worked
In my case the problem was so severe - I know within a couple of days of the fumigation that it failed miserably and that I was in deep trouble
keep us posted and make sure you ask them for documentation that the fumigation was done with the proper 3X level and they maintained that level throughout the entire time

It's really because of people like you, Adele and others on this board that I've even been able to battle the problem so far. I talked to them about the 3X concentration and am just waiting for them to document that which they are sending Monday.
I'm looking forward to a fresh start! I'm actually moving next Friday so by this time next week I should be in a much better disposition. I will definitely keep everyone updated. I think the community of those of us bed buggers keeps us all sane!
I'm with ya, I think you must have some good luck headed your way. Lottery winnings maybe? :)

i've never played the lotto - but someone else told me the same thing :))))
let us know how it works out for you - my fingers will be crossed
