After days of research and then going 3 days with almost no sleep in my efforts of eradicating these beasts, I had reached my limit. In the throes of complete exhaustion, I gave up my Goliath persona I reached out to my best friend by phone. What happened next I was not prepared for. She listened to me break down on the phone as I waited for a handyman and his wife whom I had enlisted to come to my home to help me do things that I couldnt do on my own, like encasing my mattress. Moments later, my best friend's husband called and said that his dad had been on drugs and thought bugs were crawling on him. They, my best friend and her husband, would "help me" by taking me "somewhere" to get help. I was blown away.

The handyman's two cents. The handyman's comment "I dont see any bugs", we cant do anything here to help you, but we will pray for you, because you do need help ma'am." And with that, the handyman and his wife were gone.

I have slept since then, and am renewed in continued efforts to eradicate the things from my home. What I was not prepared for was the emotional toll it taking on my life and the disbelief of others. I am living an emotional hell.

I''m sorry for the experience you are having. I'm on the other side of fried, but I remember, and I know how empty it feels when others, who just cannot understand, what you are going through. But on this forum, this is the place to get information and when you really need it, support and acknowledgment. Don't feel bad about your friends, they cannot get "it." Just like I can't know what it's like to have AIDS, or a physical disability..you have to be there to know the subtleties.

You really need to get some sleep. A hotel is worth it and you don't have to worry about getting bed bugs. Sleep will help you regroup and find the strength to keep going, because not going forward is not an option. That's been an interesting thing, like labor or death, you can't go backward..of course with BB some people can, but not you, right.

Get sleep, then get poison from a professional, a detailed professional, don't move stuff around, trust me on that, then get your bed protected, isolated and then you can sleep, and get stronger. I'm trying to simulate normal at this point, it got so far away. I've been bite free in my house for over two weeks, almost three...I'm in limbo and had an anxiety attack (a real one, and that's rare) from trying to hang out with the dim light on. I thought I could do it, but I couldn't. So soon. Just make a list of what you have to do, then proceed, and be real nice to yourself.

Get a professional who is experienced with bed bugs to treat your home. (Don't just get poison from them!) And don't worry about encasements -- if you get a PCO in, many of them will help you put them on. Or they may remove bed bugs from the mattress first, if they are very good.

Please read the FAQs. There is one on choosing a Pest Control Operator if you need it. If you choose to go to a hotel, be sure and read the travel faqs which cover not spreading bed bugs where you go. And remember that you will need to live at homr during treatment in order to attract bed bugs out to cross poison and die.

But first, you really must sleep. You will get through this!

Thank you nobugs, yes, that is what I meant, get poison applied by a pest professional, not do it yourself, thank you. And when you check into the hotel, leave your giant zip locks in the car until after you check in.

The escape advice is valuable if you can do it. I am in a hotel now. second night. i return to the battle field tomorrow..
The reactions of your friend and husband is unfortunate..
my friends are getting impatient with me..
the fact that they are thinking i am not quite sane any longer does not help in the strength we need to fight and win.

i have to keep reminding myself... THIRD time in the battle..that i will get thru this and the psychological scars will remain with me forever.
