the dangers of a stoop sale...
(4 posts)-
hi all,
a couple of weeks ago, i took a big risk and bought a purse at a stoop sale. as soon as i got home, i tossed it in the packtite, only i couldn't find my thermometer so i just cooked it for a couple of hours. it was the only thing in there.
today, i recooked again with thermometer, and afterwards, opened it and found what could be a dead bedbug. no idea when it died, could have been upon first cooking or even before i bought it. needless to say, purse is in the trash now and bug is semi-crushed in a ziploc.i'm packtiting things that had been near the purse, inspected local area, and bed is still isolated with no signs.
does this sound sufficient?
trying to not freak out, but earlier this week, i found a bedbug in my hotel room (before i got settled in) and demanded an entirely new hotel within the hour. which happened, but didn't stop me from working on the bathroom floor for fear of utilizing furniture. guess i'm just in hypervigilant mode, even though last episode was a false alarm!
thanks all!
can't wait for the day in which i can just relax again. -
But wait a second...if you put the purse in the PackTite and ran it appropriately, why would you have to trash the purse?
The purse should be good to use now.

But Deedle,
She saw a bug in that purse. The purse was claimed by the bug. Everytime she look at it, she would remember the previous owner who died in that purse.
If you directly put the purse into the pactite and burned it, you should be ok i guess. Good reminder why to stay away from garage sales... There was a big one couple of blocks from where i live and they were selling mattresses, wood frame beds and headboards etc... I almost had a heart attack watching people negotiating over used wood headboards... -
hah! you're so right. it's like i was mad at the purse for betraying me.
