    Hello!

I'm happy to say that the bed bugs are gone!!! Sorry that I have not been on the forum sooner, but I'm happy to come back and share my story so far.

Basically, back in June, I discovered a single bed bug. A terrible exterminator came after that and didn't spray enough (although I didn't know it at the time). I found more again in August; this time it was an adult and lots of babies. Freaked out. Much better exterminator came this time (from the same company) and really sprayed it well, gave me some good advice, and answered all of my 1 million questions. In this time, I learned that almost every apt has had bed bugs in the building and I realized that they are just circling the building. Since my lease was ending anyway, I decided to move (despite the risks). I moved to an awesome new apt, and have been bug-free every since!

There are a ton of risks with moving, but I cleaned everything to the extreme and was incredibly careful. Also, my new apartment was sprayed before I moved in, so I think that helped too. I am confident that they are gone and so so so relieved to move on!

Keep your chin up! You will win!!!!

    Best,
    Sad (but not anymore!) Newbie

    Sad [Not Anymore!] Newbie,

Thank you so, so much for coming back to share your story. So often here, people only come to the boards in times of crisis, and that's 100% okay. That's why we're here.

But when people are in crisis, they tend to post a lot. And that means that already panicky people see lost of posts from lots of panicked people, and sometimes, as a result, they see the bed bug thing as much more hopeless than it is.

So it really means a lot to have posts like this from people who've won the war on bed bugs. I'm sorry to hear that your old building was so infested and being handled somewhat poorly, but I'm very glad that the second tech who came to your house was so knowledgeable and that you've found a new place that is now bed bug free.

I don't think you did anything wrong in moving. You'd had two treatments in the old building, and your new place was sprayed too. You knew the risks, and you did everything you could to minimize them. Sometimes when a building has a systemic problem, moving is the only good option for some people. (for other readers of this post, I would just point out that Sad Newbite did have two treatments before moving and one after, so it's not the pattern of finding bed bugs and moving to get away from them that we counsel people against.)

While I'm sure we'd be happy to see you again (in other words, I'm not trying to scare you off), I am wishing you a life free of bed bugs in the future so that you don't feel like you have to come back here in a panic again. And, again, thank you so much for taking the time to come back and report on your success.

yes thank you for your story. we read so much about people freaking out during infestations, it becomes difficult to believe/remember the bugs are not invincible and immortal.

    thanks for the encouragement.

Glad to hear you are now bug free. I wouldn't wish the anxiety and stress these things cause on my worst enemy. I do wish your sucess story didn't involve moving however- only because I own my place and can't move so it akes me kinda depressed to see how that seems to be the solouton for so many people.
    Im stuck here!
