    Hi there,

So i'm sure everyone knows the stresses associated with moving, and mine just got a little worse. I just moved into a new unit in my building, following the demise of a relationship. The building managers like me enough that they put new carpet throughout and bought me new appliances, it's an awesome unit.

Here's my problem: my brother lives downstairs in the same building, so I borrowed empty boxes he'd been keeping in his storage closet last Sunday to pack. I moved Tuesday, and Wednesday morning my mother called me to tell me my brother had bedbugs. They found out the night before.

I know bedbugs can travel in boxes, and i'm just wondering how likely I am to become infested now? It has been keeping me up at night! I didn't see any bugs, eggs or moltings in the boxes and I had them sitting on the tile floor of the storage closet, and also got rid of the boxes right away but i'm scared it's too late and i've already doomed myself!

I spoke to my building managers, who said to just keep my eye out and let them know. They don't have issues with bedbugs here much, and seemed really compassionate - especially due to the fact that when I originally moved into the building it was due to family issues, and this is now causing a lot of stress within the family as well. They are treating my brother's place, and he got rid of his bed and couch but he's got to pay for the pest removal.

I was thinking of spreading DE just in case, should I treat the brand new mattress, where I have seen no signs of infestation? Any input is greatly appreciated, the building staff were super helpful but don't know much about bedbugs and said to bring someone in to look when there are no signs of anything is just money spent for nothing.
