Suspicious findings(4 posts)
I posted a couple weeks ago. My neighbor has/had bb's and we got a preventative spraying. Just woke up with a bite looking itchy spot on my leg. Both the mattress & bs are encased so I checked my passive alert monitor, which is free of any signs. I have white sheets and have been looking at them every few days so I could recognize any differences and guess what? there seems to be what I think is a faecal stain right on my sheets. It looks like a black sharpie dot, like black with fuzzy edges. There is no blood stains or any other bite spots. The weird thing is that the "black spot" kind of lines up with my leg.. but I thought bb's pooped outside their nest, not right after biting? Is it normal to find what appears to be a feacal spot in the same spot the bite occurred?
Oh, forgot to say I just tried to do a smear test by spitting on a q-tip and rubbing the spot and it didn't seem to smear at all.
I saw a picture of a bed bug feeding and a blob was coming right out of it's behind as it ate but I always understood that they pooped before reentering their harborage site too and not actually in the bed. Other people have posted about spots on their sheets though.
Fecal spotting can occur on sheets and mattresses. I would stay vigilant and due routine inspections, but also realize that their are many other things one little black dot could be.
