A few weeks ago, I posted here after finally finding a bedbug. The landlord got the PCO to come in and inspect an apartment beside us (not both which is odd) And the one diaganolly up from ours and directly above ours. Anyway, before he came I had everything in the bedroom bagged up already and taken outside. I had nothing in the closet desk or nightstand and the bed taken apart.

Here is where it gets fun. The PCO finds no signs in our apartment (which I figured because I had only ever found 3 stray bugs total anyway) and continues to tell us that one of the apts above ours was infested. The apartments here kind of suck anyway and most of the tenants are not as well... clean, tidy, or careful as my husband and myself. The pco treated everyones apartments anyway and even if it was false hope I was glad to know that the bugs were coming from someone else and not originating from my apartment. The PCO thought that it sounded practical for the bugs to come and bite me and crawl back to where they are coming from.

I slept soundly the next few nights but a week after he came I found another bug in between the wall and ceiling of our bedroom. I killed it. That night I feel my arm itching (after reading this site of course) and turn on the lights and start searching and I find one teeny tiny nymph I guess that excreted some blood when I killed it. We have searched our room inch by inch as the PCO did and still have only found these few stray bugs. I am pretty sure that the other neigghbors did not take the precautions we did to try and protect ourselves from these bugs because I do not think that they care.

So, I can not take it anymore. The worst part is that it is not coming from me and not in my control. The landlord says the pco is coming back in a couple of weeks but honestly my husband and I are getting ready to buy a house and need new bedroom furniture anyway. So now our plan is to throw out the bedroom furniture and move back to my parents house for a few weeks til we find a good house to rent or buy. No clothing has been kept in our room since the pco treatment so it should be safe.

Honestly I am so glad to get away from these creatures that even if i knew I would never get another bite I would still throw away the mattresses... It seems like closure for me. Since I am leaving I could care less what the neighbors decide to do about their problem that is affecting ME who is severely allergic to these bloodsuckers!!!

Just thought I would share my little odd story with everyone. I will definitely update when we have moved back to my moms with our new mattress and will, God willing, be BUG FREE. I think and hope that our case is a little different since it has confirmed to be no activity in our bedroom and that trashing things will just be an extra precaution. I wish everyone else well on their bug journey!

Take all precautions in moving. These bugs are very hard to find and it is not difficult for you to miss a nymph or an egg. All you need is one egg and the whole thing starts all over again.

Thanks! Yes I definitely will be taking all precautions when moving what I am not throwing away. And hopefully the PCO will get to spray once more before we leave. The only reason I think that there are not more in our bedroom is because I only get bit once every week or so...sometimes two weeks. It is very irregular. I would not want to stick around and have them actually make a home in my room because they get bored with their home upstairs Lol thanks for your reply!

This doesn't sound right to me, that the bedbugs would come to your apartment to bite you and then return "home" to the other apartment. If you see bedbugs in your apartment, it stands to reason that they live in your apartment.

It is possible that they are in my apartment I guess, maybe in the walls or something? Every inch of the room has been searched. Honestly at this point I don't care if thehy are there are not. Everything in that room is going to be trashed pretty much anyway. And that is the only room that has had any activity.

If I was you I would assume they are in your apartment no matter what anyone thinks or says. It's impossible to know. You don't want to bring them along to your mothers house too. I'd rewash/dry everything you packed up and get rid of anything you can. Like Bait said one egg and it starts all over again. Look at all the posts here of people who moved. Not to scare you but you seem confident they are just coming from another apartment once a week to feed and running back, most likely not the case.

Yes I realize that it sounds ridiculous and it definitely could be wrong. I am assuming that THAT ROOM has them, but with no signs anywhere else in this apartment, I am not going to assume that they are in other rooms since I have had the place inspected and treated. That being said, if they are in my room, where would they be? Our closet is empty, desk empty, nightstand empty, and have no dressers. Each piece of furniture was inspected. I have seen that they live in the walls or under carpets, that would have to be the only place.. I have been bit once a week or so since September so I thinkt hat we would have a large infestation by now, but that does not seem to be the case. Regardless nothing is coming with us from that bedroom.

You would be amazed at the places bed bugs can be found. Do you have any hollow voids in the bed such as support rods. Any ceiling fans? curtain rods? Have you checked the base of the lamps? I agree with BostonPCT that the bed bugs are in your apartment not going back and forth. You need a more thorough inspection to determine the location of the bed bugs.

In your position, I would take absolutely NOTHING that couldn't be heat treated to my mother-in-law's or my new home. I would want to be clear of all signs of bed bugs--both the insects and bites--for many months before moving. Since that might be difficult because of your not-so-diligent neighbours, since you are buying a house that would be your own and you'd have complete control over pest control, you might opt to take as little as possible, go directly to your own, detached home, put as much as possible (that can't be machine washed) in a backyard shed for 18 months and still get the whole place and everything in it treated upon arrival. That's what I would do. Luckily, I didn't have to do quite as much because we were clear of bugs and bites for 8 months before moving.

I will not be taking anything frm that room that cannot be treated. I am not really worried about the rest of the apartment because there have been no signs there. Only our clothes will be going with us there, everything else will be treated again by PCO hopefully, then put in storage. And I will try to get our storage unit treated before we move in to a new house(maybe) in the next few months.

Our PCO was very thorough and helpful and seemed to know what he was talking about. We had our whole bed taken apart when he came so he could inspect well and the closet was empty as well as the rest of the furniture in there. Everything has been searched. We cannot find them. As I have said, regardless everything from that room is being trashed.

Well the PCO will not be able to come a second time before we move to my Mom's. LL says he said 30 days and she wasnt calling him. Oh well, she is angry we are moving. That is fine. Anyway I am still only getting bites around once a week. But I am starting to throw things out and I ordered some BEDLAM which is what our PCO was using. So before anything goes in storage or to my moms and before we Get it out of storage for the new house... It will be treated.. Also will have alchohol handy for anything I physically see and will use it to rub down things like shoes I am keeping. Only other thing from the bedroom we are taking is dvd's that I am removing from their cases and only keeping the dvd's. Anyway I hope everyone has a wonderful BB free Christmas and wish me luck on our moving adventure next week and pray that we can do it carefully and successfully.
