Steam mop?
(3 posts)-
I have hard wood floors throughout my apartment. Does anyone think a steam cleaning mop would be a good for killing eggs? Would that work? I'd be doing this in conjunction with a PCO treatment of course.

I guess it would depend how it was designed and the heat output at the tip. The steam FAQ explains how hot it needs to get and how to test that. (I can't link right now as I am on a mobile device, but let me know if you have trouble finding it.). I suspect the design of the area outputting the steam would also be a factor. Keep in mind dry vapor steam is recommended to help avoid the growth of mold.

You have to be careful about using steam on hardwood floors - it can cause lifting and gaps as hardwood is very susceptible to moisture especially steam. This will just create more places for them to harbor - you could try using Murphy's oil soap and vacuuming.
