Spot found during inspection
(4 posts)-
Hello everyone,
It has been a little while since I have posted here, and for a little while I thought I might have escaped. Unfortunately my skin has started acting up again (not bites per se, but odd reactions I remember from my exposure).
Anyway, I decided to inspect my couch tonight and found this spot: http://i.imgur.com/eq63Y.jpg, which is worrying me. It didn't smear with finger + saliva and wouldn't come off when I scaraped at it, but it did crumble slightly. (Maybe that means it is old?)
I know that the image isn't very informative, but any opinions out there? All help is appreciated.

Should still smear given the size of it. I don't think anyone could say yes or no with that picture. What you described though is not typical characteristics of fecal spotting.

Thanks KQ, I appreciate the help. I am feeling not, because it was the only thing I could find in the couch, it didn't smear and because this couch was stored in a basement for a long time, so who knows what was going on in terms of dirt down there.
I have been in high alert though and pulled something else off my bedframe that I would like to run by everyone here. It is a tiny little speck, about 1mm long and is light tan/light brown. I think it may be a cast skin of a 1st instar, but I really can't tell.
Here are the images I have managed so far (its an album of four images). If people don't think any of these are good enough for an ID I am happy to try more.

Hi,
The images are fine to ID from.
However non of them are insect material. They fall into a category I would call organic shedding. I have about 2,000 images of skin particles, balls of ear wax, nasal discharge etc which I would classify this in amongst.
Its nothing to worry about and more of an indication that when you focus on the smallest of details in your room you find lots of things like this.
