Spider bites?
(3 posts)-
I know it's impossible to ID bugs by bites, especially bed bugs. But I've been getting these "bites" (if that's what they are), despite having BB Alert Passive monitors in several locations that have been all-clear.
I know the sign of a spider bite is that little two-pronged center. Maybe someone can ID these as spider bites? I know I have spiders in my apartment, I've seen them...
This bite started much smaller. Because I thought it could be a follicle or something I (stupidly) squeezed it. Clear sort of liquid came out from the area...but as it's gone dowwn in swelling it seems like the center mght have that 2-prong appearance. Pic here:

If anyone can weigh in from an expert POV...I don't love spiders, btu I'd much rather know that it is spiders and not bed bugs. If it IS spiders, any advice on how to get rid of 'em? (I'm in New York City as well, if that matters in terms of types.)

i had the same exactly looking bites. that's how my bed bug bites looked- big red area with two little red holes in my arm. at first i thought it was a spider bite, but with further inspection i found out that it was a bed bug bite.
and i too was hoping that it was a spider bite and not a bed bug bite... im sorry but i think that you have a bed bug bite there/

It's impossible to say.
It looks like a bite. I've had bites like that from mosquitoes. I had bed bug bites that looked like that. The two prong appearance is easily explained away by damage caused when you scratched at the site
Keep looking. If you can put your fear aside, try a passive monitor. If not, start a careful, well-planned inspection of your space. Read the FAQ on inspection. Do it again. Every time you inspect, you'll start to see more places To look and also how to look.
