    Hi everyone.

I discovered bedbugs last week and have been reading this forum - thanks to all those that have posted advice and information.

Most of the time I don't seem to react to the bites much, so I suspect they've been there for a while (my best guess is that they came with the bed the landlord put in just before I moved in a few months ago). I realised I had them by finding live samples.

The thing is, I have a really hard time persuading myself to go to bed now, and to go to sleep. I don't really know why it's so disturbing - I've slept in the rainforest on Borneo and been bitten by mossies and the occasional leech all over SE Asia. A bite from something (probably a spider) in Cambodia made my left arm swell up like Popeye's. BBs are less dangerous and less painful/troublesome in terms of symptoms than all of these but I have a much bigger problem with them.

Anyway, I have someone from David Cain's company coming around later today, so hopefully I'll feel happier if the blighters are at least poisoning themselves to get to me. Also hoping I don't have to wash my winter coats somehow :/

Part of me is really worried that it may be difficult to clear the infestation - on the on hand Bed Bugs Ltd claims a 98% clear-up rate after two treatments. On the other hand, I see so many horror stories on this forum...

    I guess this isn't really a question, I'm just dumping/saying hi

    aphe,
I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this. I know first hand the anxiety one goes through regarding bed bugs. Hard to understand what it is that triggers such anxiety over bed bugs.

Use this forum as a sound board. We all know what you're going through!

    Hang in there

Hang in there! I also had awful anxiety - saw a hypnotherapist to work it all out.

You are in good hands - I had the pleasure of meeting David Cain on a stopover in NYC. He is great - and will not let you down. He e-mailed me here in the states to answer questions I had.

If his guys say they will get rid of them they will!

I think that - for me - the difference between say... a Japanese mountain leech sneaking up and biting me while camping/hiking/adventuring is quite a bit different than a host of hungry bugs waiting for me to fall asleep in my very own bed back home. Granted - I suppose those who do live in mosquito infested areas hate the buggers (and they spread disease, so are more dangerous) appropriate to the size of the problem. The other issue I think is that with other bugs they are defeated, for the most part, with baits/traps/sprays and a little bit of work/money. Bed bugs require quite a bit more... effort to remove from your home.

Anyway, I have someone from David Cain's company coming around later today, so hopefully I'll feel happier if the blighters are at least poisoning themselves to get to me. Also hoping I don't have to wash my winter coats somehow :/

Welcome to the forum aphe, we're all glad to meet you but sad you are here. Good job on selecting David Cain as your PCO as well - I've heard good things about his company, and I'm sure you'll be bed bug free in no time!

I completely understand your anxiety, as I'm sure everyone here does. From the time I realized I had them till the first treatment (about 1 week), I'd be almost fine during the day but would become ultra anxious, to the point of tears many time, at bedtime. I felt terribly violated knowing I would be their meal each night. Like you're hoping, I began to feel better after the first treatment. I still get a little anxious about a week after each treatment when my cats start acting crazy, and I feel more itchies, but it's nothing like it was before treatment. Now I just remind myself that whether or not I'm anxious and losing sleep, they're still going to feed on me, but hopefully they'll be poisoned on their way to me - so I might as well calm myself and get some sleep

    Oh, the irony...

    (P.S. Cain's a good man.)

    Thanks, all.

David himself was around yesterday evening. It seems that it's confined to the bed, which isn't as bad as I'd feared. Didn't see any bugs last night - but then I managed to sleep and wasn't up flashing a torch around.
