Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » Uncategorized
Soo, found another one.. and *pics*
(15 posts)-
So I found another adut bb last night, it was after we got home and it was out in the open crawling on the top of my babies co sleeper.. I squished it and tons of blood came out.. my husband, son, nor I have any bites on us... we have about 16 glue boards in our room and in the living room.. Well after inspecting this today.. NONE of them have anything on them EXCEPT for the one by the plug outlet on the side of the wall that connects with the neighbors wall(apartment next door).. so my question is.. Are they coming from there????

BBs will travel from one place to another and do use electrical outlets as a path.
It is possible they are coming from that wall but that is something to allow the PCO to evaluate and decide based on all evidence.
Uh you reposted the same pic.

sorry fixed..
So what should i do? Can I tape the holes on this outlet??
-
The later one actually look like something I scratched off my hair yesterday, yellow cream transparent with a black dot... as big as an apple seed... Actually after 4 showers that day I found it weird if it is...

no one else? I am really freaking out here :(

LIAN,
Unfortuanely noone is going to be able to answer with certainty where they are coming from. As far as the outlet is concerned I'm sure you could create a physical barrier by ductaping over the entire outlet and outlet plate. It won't look pretty but if this is the only way they are getting in it would work (same idea as caulking the baseboards). Many PCO's remove wallplates and treat the space behind them with dusts to try and prevent entry and eventually kill those that travel through the dust. DE is purely a mechanical killer while Drione uses a pesticide as well.

so we are set to move on the 1st..will these things come with us? What should we do so that they don't?
we have none on our bed.. none at all on the mattress.. I really think they are living the wall or something..
The PCO whom is our friend told me over the phone right now to use RAID.. Does that work???? -
so I can't put tape aound the outlet.. as we are renting... I'm going to tape the outlet part, is that okay?
Also I did ask the PCO our friend over the phone about the dust.. and he said he will not use, it has major health issues... -
omg I'm finding more tiny babies on the glue boards.. Seriously I am freaking out here! I really need some help! I'm not sure what to do! I can't try to use all these pesticides and kill my birds in the process *cry* I REALLY NEED some advise on what to do. I have call different companies here.. all charge soooooo much.. we just don't have $$$ to spend on this.. I just want to roll over and die I am so frustrated/stress/paranoid! I'm trying to keep it together becuase I am a SAHM to a 5 month old baby boy..
Please if someone can give me advise.. Help.. anything I would really appreciate!
And please just don't tell me to contact PCO.. I have done that.. none have anything safe for birds.. and our friend tell us to use RAID.. which I am pretty sure does not kill the BB but would kill our parrots.. *CRY* -
Livinginanightmare,
The best, most effective, and most likely to be safe thing you can do is to look for a licensed, qualified pest control professional in your city. You *must* find one who not only knows his or her way around bed bugs, since they are a very difficult pest to eliminate, but probably for your own sake, you should look for one who is willing to follow a treatment plan that will satisfy your own particular needs.
Very few people safely and successfully self-treat, and given the respiratory sensitivity of birds, most of the techniques that people use in self-treatment, dusts like DE and the use of sprayed chemical pesticides, are not things that I would feel safe doing if I had birds.
Very few people with a bed bug infestation move without taking buts with them. Nymphs and eggs can be very small, and there is only one chemical pesticide that kills any of the eggs, and even it doesn't kill all of them. The eggs are often glued in place with a pretty effective substance used by mother bed bugs, so even thorough vacuuming won't get rid of them all.
Moving does present people with a couple of options: having all belongings in the moving truck treated with Vikane or thermal, if those are done correctly, and if you follow a strict protocol to make sure you don't take any hitch hikers with you.
I'm a crunchy, granola, pesticide-averse Californian who gets a community supported agriculture box of produce every week, buys her milk in reusable glass bottles, and beats herself up when she forgets to take reusable bags to the grocery store. I'm not someone who would ever steer people away from organic, do-it-yourself solutions to problems if I thought those options worked.
Do it yourself, organic "solutions" to bed bugs simply do not work because of the nature of the pests.
Ask your friend the PCO to suggest a professional in your area who is experienced with getting rid of bed bugs. It's your best bet. Chances are it'll cost you less to get a good PCO in up front, rather than trying to deal with the problem on your own. Many people who do end up chucking plenty of expensive furniture and electronics, buying equipment and chemicals they don't need, moving to get away from the bugs but taking them with them anyway, still suffering from the bugs, and giving up and calling a PCO. Along the way, they may attempt do it yourself pest control that makes the problem harder to treat and/or that may be unsafe for them, their neighbors, and their pets.
If you can't find a PCO with a knowledge about birds, it might be a good idea to have your vet talk to your PCO about the specific health issues birds have with their respiratory systems.

Hi, livinginanightmare, can you describe how the bb nymphs look like? How big are they? I've seen some pictures but the ones in your picture looks really clear and makes me wonder if I could see them with a naked eye...

Hi, livinginanightmare, can you describe how the bb nymphs look like? How big are they? I've seen some pictures but the ones in your picture looks really clear and makes me wonder if I could see them with a naked eye...BBs start at about 1mm and grow to 5mm in adult hood. Nymphs are hatched translucent but as the progress they get darker and as in one of the pictures get a dark spot that becomes their adult color.
You can see them.
As to what actions for the OP to take ask the PCO friend to look and decide. If the same glue trap is catching all the bugs that is likely near the harborage or entry point.

EXCEPT for the one by the plug outlet on the side of the wall that connects with the neighbors wall(apartment next door).. so my question is.. Are they coming from there????
I would highly recommend investigating that electrical outlet. If they are coming from that spot you will see one coming though or around that outlet in which case that is where they are coming from. What you need to do right away is caulk up that outlet unless you want to wait 24 hours and very closely observe that location, the problem is someone has already been bitten and nymphs could have been born, if your lucky the nymphs are coming from the outlet but that is unknown.

Thanks, spideyjg, seems like I do need a magnifier anyway...

thanks for the responses.. so we have been inspection glue boards over and over.. I taped the outlets on that side of the wall(connecting to neighboring apt) and since then have only caught one more baby.. no new ones yesterday or today on boards.. NONE in any other room but the bed room. We are getting ready to move on the first and will probably leave bed frame in garage and spray down there becuase our mattress/box spring is all wraped. this is just tooooo much to deal with..
OH AND GET THIS.. we walk out the door two days ago at around 7pm.. and the hallway smelled like bug spray! It was coming from either the neighbor across the way or next door! Husband says it was a strong smell next door when he walked down to investigate the smell.. Now I'm even more pissed knowing now that they ARE coming from the neighbor!
I really don't know my rights here.. but dh seem to not want to bring up with landlord because he said if it went to arbitration it is REALLY hard to prove where the BB came from and we would more then likely be liable for all expensive.. (and he knows this becuase he dealt with it for years at downtown eastside hotels)
