Some somewhat effective bed bug deterrents...
(2 posts)-
Here's some stuff I am doing until the bbs go away:
I have only one sheet and one blanket and two pillows. Everything gets washed every day.
I wrapped my bed in regular old plastic wrap and sealed it with clear tape
Afterwards I found inexpensive allergen covers for the mattress and the pillow
at Bed Bath and Beyond. To sleep I shake out the covers. Then I lay down a layer of Gold Bond Powder with menthol.
I put on the covers and spray every where with Orange Guard.
I take some Ben Gay disperse it in my hand and spread it around the upper end of the bed.
I also take some Ben Gay and rub a very light amount in my hair, around my nose and lips.
Don't use too much. If you do you'll find out what I mean.I use the Ben Gay on my feet and legs and powder down with the Gold Bond.
Something about the menthol really turns the little buggers off and they avoid.
Last, but not least. After 6-7 weeks of infestation I may be losing what's left of my mind. I have begun to look at this episode a different way. Call me crazy but I think my enormous anxiety and downright disgust is somehow prolonging the infestation in some psychic way. Lately I have begun to meditate and ask for a "truce" and a request they "move on." Not to someone else but to just go.
I'm feeling a little better but I can't report on the results of our peace negotiations...yet!

Acgogo,
Please see my other post. I hope you're getting treatment to make this go away for good, because in my experience, substances thought to repel bed bugs, and thick clothing, won't keep away hungry bed bugs.
