Slow reaction to bed bug bites from family members??
(3 posts)-
So me and my family went to a trip two weeks ago and we stayed at a hotel with bed bugs. I was bit there for sure and I have a ton of bites all over my body- too many to count. I only started seeing the bites when we got home though. We stayed at the hotel for three nights and at first, we thought that I was the only one who got bit. But about three or four days after, my mom and dad started seeing bites on them as well.
So I was wondering, could they have gotten bit while we were staying at the hotel but they just have a slow reaction or did we take them home?
Since were family, shouldn't the bites show up at the same time? My parents sleep together and they both started seeing bites on them at around the same time so is this coincidence or do we definitely have them?
We haven't found any evidence that we have them yet except for this light brown-ish shell that i think is a bed bug shell. Is this enough evidence that we are infested?
What's the chance that we took them home through our luggages, clothes, etc.?
We washed everything ever since we found out I had bites so could that have killed them?Thank you so much!

Delayed reactions are not unusual and it seems fully possible that they did not react for 3-6 days or so after being bitten.
You should consider a monitoring system just to reassure yourself that you did not bring any home. You may find our FAQs helpful, especially the one on detection. There are FAQs linked from
it about BBAlert Passive monitors and ClimbUp Interceptors -- two very different approaches which may help you detect any problems early.Washing clothing on hot or drying on hot will kill bed bugs. Did you do anything about the luggage and other items which could not be washed or dried?
In any case, with some luck, there aren't any at home.

When we got home, we washed my sheets and all the clothes I brought with me on the trip. After about two days that we realized we all got bitten, we washed everyone's sheets and clothes.
How quickly can bed bugs scatter?
We haven't found any bugs at our home yet so for now we're sleeping soundly until they bite us again and this can confirm our suspicions.
Thank you for your advice
