saints be praised (light hearted)
(12 posts)-
OK so I could not sleep this morning and have been up since 5am UK time (got to get that out of the way from the start as it explains the rest).
Reviewing things and searching for things I realised that I did not know what the patron saint of bed bugs was, after several coffees in an attempt to console myself from a remissive hole in my bed bug knowledge I went out on a google search.
It turns out there is no patron saint for bed bugs but there is a patron saint for insect bites:
Saint Narcissus
Memorial 29 October
Profile
2nd-3rd century bishop of Jerusalem. Late in life, he was accused of a crime. None of the Christians in his diocese believed it, but Narcissus did not believe he should serve after being under such a cloud, and he became a desert hermit. After a complete acquittal, Narcissus returned to his see, older, weathered, but stronger and more zealous than ever, and served several more years. When his age began to wear on him, he begged God to send a bishop to help him. Saint Alexander of Cappadocia responded, and the two ruled the diocese together, Narcissus living to age 116.
Born 99
Died 215 of natural causes
Canonized Pre-Congregation

As there was a gap in the market I thought we should write to the pontiff for some direction. Now here is the fun part who do we put forward?
Post your suggestions below.

Infofreak,
You owe me a new LCD screen on that one if I cant get the coffee out.
I washed the video and they are not real bed bugs because they like meringue and have wings. I have however put it on my reading list for PCO's that need to start again from scratch.

I was just chatting about who would be the patron saint of this situation with a friend this past week! He suggested looking up the patron saint of exterminators or plagues.

Saint Narcissus should cover a range of professions then: calamine producers, PCOs, encasement makers and why not this website. But I for one ain't trading my beloved St. Jerome for no St. Narcissus.
Here's one for your trivia collection. A corny Brazilian song from the 70s? called "A Festa dos Insetos" (Aka the Flea and the Bedbug), with the cutesy chorus: "I toss and turn, look around but see nothing, I don't know if it was a flea or a bedbug"...

Isn't St. Patrick the Patron of PCOs?
He drove the snakes out of Ireland, after all.

dottie, it sounds like you might be using Internet Explorer 6. We still are having issues with this. I am trying to fix it but it's best to use another browser if you can.

Well rats. My computer is hit and miss indeed. I'll a better computer when my hours are increased and I get more $$. I can't do Twitter either. So if there is a Bed Bug Twitter I'll just have to catch up someday.

dottie, I am trying to fix the site to work with IE6. Just have not found the right advice on this issue yet.

If there is a bed bugs twitter group I may just loose the will to live.
I was just thinking this evening sometimes even I get the feeling that I am spending too much time thinking about bed bugs.

My wife says she'll wear a bedbug costume, so I'll look at her more often....
