    Hi,
I'm new here and would like to know if you guys think that the exposure I had last night will give me an infestation. I got off work and a friend gave me a ride home. They told me after a few minutes in the car that they had bedbugs in their home. That they have known of them in their apt. for the past 2 weeks but suspect that they have been in the apt complex for longer than that. I was freaked out but remained calm and after being in the car about 15-20 mins we arrived at my home. When I got out I went in my back door to retrieve the key for my side door that connects to the stairs to go down to the basement. I went downstairs and immediately took off my clothes and jacket and put them in the washer and left my shoes down there. I got in the shower when I went upstairs but didn't think for some reason to wash my hair. I went back down and put my shoes in a plastic bag, tied it shut and put it in my freezer. This morning I washed all my bedclothes and put my mattress cover in dryer on high heat. I'm still concerned that I may have missed an egg or bug if they got on me in the car. I went online and found that I had taken the best precautions from what I can see but am still nervous. Any input would be appreciated.

You definitely took the right precautions and I personally wouldn't worry about it. I'm in and out of bedbug infested homes all week long, flipping mattresses, tearing apart bed frames and I have never tracked a bedbug into my work truck or home. I follow the same procedure... come home, strip down, bag and wash my work clothes. The only difference is I steam my work boots daily even though I wear tivek booties.

I would recommend that you invest in some form of passive monitor such as ClimbUp interceptors. Not necessarily because of this incident but because bed bugs aren't going away anytime soon and chances of your being exposed again are pretty good.

Best thing you can do is keep a vigilant eye out for signs and don't worry about it. Good luck

Thanks for the input Weedbugpest! That makes me feel better. I will be traveling to Disney via air travel. Any recommendations on precautions for the airport and the Disney resort? We are staying at the Fort Wilderness Cabins. What are the chances of picking up bedbugs in an airport? I'm worried about my luggage being exposed in the plane. I have done some research on how to look for them in the cabin, so I'm mostly worried about while we are flying. Thanks!

I would recommend taking precautions at the hotel and when you get home. See the TRAVEL FAQS for more information: http://bedbugger.com/faqs/travel
