This has come up before and so I thought I would direct everyone to this article.

Richard Fagerlund ("Ask the Bugman") is touting his soup soap/water/alcohol mixture again. See this SF Chronicle article of 12/9/2009). He suggests spraying it in all kinds of places and then spraying DE on top of it (NOT mixing the two as some have cited him as suggesting).

I do not agree that thermal treatment is a bad idea because it does not prevent reinfestation. Thermal and dust are not mutually exclusive, and getting rid of bed bugs swiftly and thoroughly has a lot to be said for it.

I am also not recommending this protocol. But this Fagerlund treatment comes up here from time to time and I wanted to link to it so people could read it in full.

If someone were to package and market the Fagerlund mix, what would you say is a reasonable price (from the perspective of a reasonably market-savvy customer, not from some high-minded moralizing) in USD?

This doesn't sound very good to me....he didn't even point out that you would have to let your box spring or mattress dry out before putting the encasement on. Wouldn't DE on the bed frame tear up the encasement? No cautions about working with DE.....I can imagine people getting into a complete mess with this

I actually have a bottle of liquid DE I am waiting to test although I am pretty sure from the foaming its not just DE and water.

Hot and sour might have some efficacy.

    Thanks, Super.

I can actually spell, believe it or not, but I do a bad job when I am here, mostly because I am trying to read a lot and write a lot quickly.

I would not recommend the DE soup.

You do a great job. Typos don't matter (unless they're fun like this one was).

What if it were seasoned with a bit of soy…at $100/ounce?

    David,
Did you ever end up experimenting w/ the liquid DE?

Are you done w/ the experiment?

I'd love to hear your results.

    David,
I'd also love to hear if you'v had a chance to test the liquid DE. I sprayed some about a week ago, but I combined the soap/ethyl alcohol/water and DE together. I got a new metal bed frame a couple days ago so I will try spraying the soap/ethyl alcohol/water first and then spray the DE on top of it. Thanks to nobugsonme for your clarification.
