I acquired BB in May. My dad is an exterminator and did one treatment and we stopped getting bit. A month ago they came back. He did another treatment about three weeks ago and they seen worse. He works for J.C Ehrlich's and says what he did is all they do. Do others do more?
I have put zippered vinyl encasings on all the beds in my home. It started in my oldest room then went down to my two younger girls room and now is in my room! My oldest found a few stray in her room but I cannot find a single thing in the other rooms, just being bitten. My 8 year old has a bad reaction to them with it ending up in big red welt marks that are hot. My youngest just gets regular raised itchy bumps. My husband gets the same but scratches them open pretty bad. I get small shaving bite like bumps and I think it is because I take allergy meds.
Anyhow, why can't we see any in the other rooms? Are vinyl coverings enough? What other ways are the best to treat besides an exterminator?
I have insomnia and I can't sleep through this! I wanna take my kids and go live in my car sometimes. I am desperate! I need all the help I can get. I do the vacuuming and laundry everyday!I have been caulking and taping up everything and they still are biting. WHat can I do more?

    Hi,

I would recommend that you read through the FAQ and learn as much as you can about bed bugs.

There are many different approaches that different people take and to be frank experience is the key in dealing with cases. Find someone local who has experience of the problem and ask them over for an assesment. As you have already been treated you will need to advise them of exactly what has been done and when. If they take a professional approach they will require this information in order to establish what steps need to be taken to either build upon the current treatment or clear it away and start again from scratch. I take on a lot of cases in London which people have either attempted themselves or had other companies try first. The bottom line is that in such cases for my own health and safety and that of my staff it is essential to get full disclosure of what has been done from the start. In cases where we turn up and find evidence of treatment when non has been disclosed our approach is to leave site and not return for at least 1 month.

Depending upon the type of building you live in you may also need to discuss the issue with all adjoining neighbours. If you have a heavy infestation in multiple rooms this is practically an essential step as they could be the source of your problems and not even be aware of it themselves. Dont forget that a lot of people are infected but do not respond to them with bites.

Well that should at least get you started.

    David

Your PCo should know, the treatment only kills the bugs and not the eggs, so he has to spray again in 7 -11 days to kill the little hatched ones.
Wash you clothes and seal them in plastic til this is over. Bb dogs were fantastic to pin point areas for me.
    What state are you in?

My dad used Bedlan. I contacted the landlord of the row home next door and he said he will call the exterminator.
    I live in Pa.

There is no one thing that works the best. This is a complex problem that requires a sustained and multi-pronged approach. Dealing with bedbugs is very difficult, even for professionals, I believe. They cannot rely on one product or procedure, as I think David would agree. Bedbugs are dumb, but unfortunately, we have to be very smart to fight them.
