As far as bites are concerned I figured I'd throw this out there... I react to bites but they look different depending upon where they are on my body.

The 2-3 in a row spaced out over 2.5 inches are on arms and face
then solely my neck they are double bites where only one of them itches like a mosquito bite.
Still others (shoulders) are single red holes in the skin
and then there is the occasional three together spaced within a millimeter of each other.

All different shapes and sizes. So weird.

    Makes for quite a task!

    Hi srsly,

Yes as you have said bites are hypervariable. They can appear different in different locations, some itch some don't, some stay a short time while others seem to hang on and come back after a while.

It's a sad fact but its the reason why diagnosing by bites along is just not feasible. The only possible medical diagnostic for bed bug bites would be an anti body test to anything that is unique to the Cimex species that they inject while feeding. It could be produced as a kit but its not likely to be home use unless you already have a spectrophotometer lying around the house.

I have long had a theory that the bites can also reactive to what your daily routine is / was. I wonder if we could convince enough people to help us collect data.
