I got myself a Packtite a few weeks ago but haven't actually used it yet. I would like to Packtite my pillows, and was wondering how long it usually takes; I will have a couple of hours today before needing to go out (I don't feel comfortable leaving it on while away, at least not the first time I run it).

Two of my pillows are regular and one is one of those dense-foamy contoured ones. Could I put all three of them and have it done in a couple of hours? Thanks for any estimates.

Dense cushy things like pillows take a long time to get heated right through. The dryer works better and faster for this type of thing. I would leave them in the dryer for a couple of hours to make sure. You can buy pillow encasements which will keep them from getting reinfested. You need the kind with the bug proof zipper. The packtite is best for things that can't go into the dryer.

*Is* there a pillow encasement with bed bug-proof zippers?

Many thanks for the comments and suggestions. I'm worried the dryer would damage/melt my foam pillow though - my clothes are always too hot to touch if I stop it mid-cycle.

The pillow encasements I have on my pillow are from Sleep Safe:

However, the zipper doesn't seem that bedbug-tight to me, which is why I was planning to Packtite my pillows.

The same manufacturers that make the mattress encasements also make pillow encasements but you have to make sure they have the correct type of zipper. Caber Fit is the manufacturer and I believe you can order them through US bedbugs. Protect-a-bed is the product name

The answer I'll always give is use the included thermometer, the goal is 120 f for an hour.

You can buy pillow encasements from Protect-a-bed via links in the Encasements page. I would not use just any brand for the reasons noted above (zipper end stops).

Many thanks for the suggestions for pillow encasements and how to dry them in the dryer; will try both.
