Yesterday was my 2nd treatment...Is anyone else out there going through the stage in which your skin is so sensitive and jumpy that all day long you think you feel something on you and either nothing is there, or it's a tiny hair that fell onto your foot when you were combing your hair, or it's a mole that you've had all your life? I just discovered a mole on my back and a barely-there one on the back of my shoulder. When I asked my friend to look and tell me if I had a bite or a mole there, she said, "It's a mole, but how can you even feel that? It's not even raised!"

My infestation was light and caught early, hence I have never even seen a bug or any evidence of them (but definitely had them), so my evidence of whether or not they're completely gone is based solely on any new bites. This is making me crazy!

I just felt a little bump on my face near my left ear...not at all itchy, so who knows why I just touched it, but it's there and it is threatening to make me lose my mind!

Just out of curiosity - how did you know you had them? Was it based on the bites? I ask because we've had 3 positive K9 searches, but negative visual inspections. My kids are still getting bitten a lot... we've tried to trap fleas or mites but no luck there. Trying to decide if we should treat without 'evidence' or if we should wait and make sure we can find a bug before we do.

Yes, the bites were my evidence. I had several of the 2- or 3-in-a-row kind. I also sleep with my window closed (NYC) so it couldn't have been anything else.

Bad news is that several new bites showed up last night, so I'm looking at a 3rd treatment.

Also, I emailed my PCO to let him know I got new bites and would need to schedule a 3rd treatment, and he wrote back saying we need to do it sooner than 2 weeks. Does this sound right?

I too have never seen a single BB but got a positive ID from a K9 and am covered in bites. One son has had a few bites but my husband and older son have been spared. After our first treatment I got bitten all over my hands and feet. I feel like a leopor(sp?) walking around in flip flops. I even have bites on the palms of my hands and bottoms of my feet which are really uncomfortable. We have done everything by the book; thrown our our bed, everything in giant hefty bags, rugs steamed and wrapped etc. We are getting our second treatment next week and I fear that if I continue to get bit after that I will walk into traffic. I've been to the derm. twice, two different ones hoping I'd be told it was not bed bugs. I had a biopsy which came back "bug bite". I started sleeping in clothes but oddly enough, I got more bites. Did that just make me warmer and more enticing? What about covering myself in vaseline? Will that help or just make me slimy?

Covering yourself in vaseline would be ineffective. Sterilize and isolate your bed.

I have also just finished my 2nd treatment this past friday. I haven't found any new probably bites, but have locateed a mysterious bump on my ear and on my leg. My boyfriend tells me to stop freaking out. I have just yesterday started using my living room again. I'm still very jumpy. The second treatment has eased my nerves alot. The PCO found "no live activity". I recieved a bite on my hand the night before, so I don't know about this. The third treatment will be in four weeks. If you feel like you are really going crazy and loosing it, you may be able to go to your family doctor and get a "nerve pill" just to take the edge off until the bugs are gone.

    Hi Sunshine..
The report after my first treatment was "no adult bed bugs found. possible nymphs but not a postive ID". According to the PCO this is not uncommon. Does your PCO always do a 3rd treatment or is that because you got another bite? I think it's easier for the person who is not getting bit to not freak out. My husband is having to put up with my hysteria. A "nerve pill" sounds good. I might just have one somewhere.
Also, Dr, Frank, how do I steralize the bed? Does spraying rosemary and citronella oils on the sheets and bed clothes help?

Visual inspections are unreliable. Use interceptors: http://www.pctonline.com/articles/article.asp?ID=3434

Disassemble the bed. Fill any voids in wood or metal with caulk. Wipe down every surface with prodigious amounts of high-concentration rubbing alcohol, or with oil or oil soap. Reassemble the frame. Fill any cracks with caulk. Encase the mattress. Put all bedding (including pillows) through the dryer.

Delusional parasitosis, ever since the bed bugs it comes and goes with me. Im actually considering going to my primary doc and getting some ativan so I can sleep through the night cause I wake up multiple times a night now thinking of bugs crawling on me.

there is also Delusory cleptoparasitosis which I've heard of BB suffers from having after the bug has been erradicated...thats where you think the bugs are in your dwelling of instead of on your person....
