Possible fecal and eggs? pictures
(4 posts)-
I decided to inspect my box spring last night which is pretty difficult because of the set up. They could definitely hide in all sorts of spots that I just can't look into. But I did find a lot of little marks on the wood and even on the metal holding it up as seen in the pictures. The thing is, though, that they would smear by me just touching them- no saliva applied. Especially on the metal, I would just rub my finger across and it would come off the metal and I'd have a black smear on my finger. I have inspected before and I can't remember seeing those marks on the metal and so many on the wood but then again, my memory could be off. Bed bugs seem to do that.
As for the third picture, I found two of these on my bed and it looked similar to eggs to me so I just wanted to make sure.

Hi,
Non of those are BB related.
If you want confirmation use Bed Bug Blue on the faecal traces but I am 99.99% certain it will come up clear.
Great clear images though which is why i can be so certain. A size marker such as a penny would help others but when you look at the world in enough detail you start to relate things to surrounds so most woods I know to expected wood grain sizes and density anyway.

Thanks, David!
Can I just say how thankful I am for this site and experts like you who post on here for free. I live in a town where bed bugs are virtually not a problem. In fact, some people don't even know they actually exist and when I had a 'visual inspection' done, my PCO was a joke because they simply do not have the experience or education here. It's really wonderful to have this available to everyone, especially those of us who have a difficult time finding help in our area! -
No worries, as I said clear large file images help, the only improvement would be to have embedded them but I always download and zoom in anyway.
Happy to help, and yes there are patches of the world not fully blighted yet so knowledge can be a rare resource at times which is what drives many of us to keep helping till those gaps are filled in a little.
You might want to collate some educational information for family and friends and teach the skills of avoidance and something a little more detailed for the next PCO you meet. If they are a good one there is a reasonable chance they may read the information and be inspired to self teach (OK I may be a bit of a wishful dreamer there but as someone once said "I have a dream").
Thankfully with time this online community has grown and there are lots to make this happen compared with say 2005. Generally however as one of the few who has met almost all of them all I could not think of finer guests to have at dinner or people to call friends.
