I am scared..I would very much appreciate it if this picture is identified.

I hope it's clear enough to be identified. I saw it and got too overzealous with the scotch tape...i smooshed it.

Probably a sowbug or wood louse.

    Not a BB for sure.

what characteristics make you think it's not a BB? (sorry to trouble you I am so scared right now)

are there other bugs that it could be? i've googled woodlice and sow bugs, this seems much flatter than those.

Until "Spidey" chimes in, let me say that when he says "Not a BB for sure" (or something similar) he has been 100% correct since I came here several months ago when compared to the IDs of the same bugs by leading entomologists.

Now, there are some cases where ID is difficult because of either the photo (or in a few cases the insect itself) but this isn't one of them. In fact, even to my very untrained eye, I know it isn't a bed bug. In fact, I captured something very similar only to have an entemologist tell me it was something else -- think a sow bug. So really nothing to worry about. Nothing. Reelax

There are many isopods which sow bugs are part of. They have 7 pairs of legs.

The overall shape and little things point that way. The pic isn't good enough to say what it is for sure but the pointy end, color, and shape don't match BBs.

Spideyjg was right about many isopods. Try looking at Porcellionides pruinosus picture, which is around the same size(7mm) and color as an adult Bed Bug.

Thank you so much. I just looked up Porcellionides pruinosus.

does it go by a different name? It's been difficult trying to find whether or not it's harmful or if an exterminator is necessary. would anybody happen to know?

    Thank you all so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!
