basically, i was noticing bites about a month ago. we had someone come in, identified them and killed what he could, and left after giving us an estimate of $900/room. We're broke college students and can't afford that! I was the only one getting bit for a while (we're talking like 50 bites), my roommates had about 2 or 3. The terminex treatment was only going to be $600 for the house, yet we're all moving out in about 2 or 3 weeks so we thought it'd be pointless to pay that much if we're leaving. I'm concerned because we're all leaving soon and I don't want to bring it to the next place... I would tell the landlord but my roommate told me not to because she doesn't want to lose her deposit (i'm subleasing so that's not an issue for me).

I have DE and a steamer (i steam my clothes before i put them on/leave the house). i plan on washing all of my clothes and bagging them and leaving them in my trunk for a few days before i move.. Long story short, i'm not sure how to go about doing this...

Contact your local tenants' rights organization.

In many cities, the landlord is responsible for paying for treatment.

I'm sure your roommates don't want to lose their deposits, but it's very hard to move without taking bed bugs with you.

The best option for moving bug free is to have all of your belongings treated with Vikane or heat while in the moving truck between apartments. However, those options are not cheap.

If you move out without having eliminated the infestation, chances are that the bugs will either migrate to adjacent apartments, causing problems for the people who are still living in the apartments around yours AND will also go with all of you to your new places.

Your local tenants' rights groups will know what the laws in your area are and will be able to give you advice for your city.

I know that's not what you want to hear, but it's the best advice I can give you. If you're lucky and you live somewhere where the landlord has to pay, you all may not be responsible for the cost.
