    Hello!

Long story short: I think I found a bed bug late last week on my couch, but I did not save the actual bug because I didn't even THINK it might be a bed bug until my boyfriend mentioned it.

That said, I've scoured my apartment for all the classic sign. NO bites, NO fecal matter, NO other signs (I can see) except I have found 3 of these shell/skins. 2 in my living room (not near the couch) the other in my bedroom area (I live in an open loft with carpets).

Sorry the pic is not that great, it seems to be the bottom half of a bed bug, right? Oval, reddish? black spot?

I am 99% sure this is a bed bug skin but wanted to get your opinion because there are literally no other signs I can see in the apartment as of now and I want to get this nipped right away before it gets to be a full blown infestation.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,

This is not a cast skin.

It may be an abdomen of a bedbug but it may also be a ladybird, can you retake the image and upload it at a higher resolution so I can look in more detail.

Hello, and thanks very much for responding. I took another photo I think is better? These are 3 pieces of what I now assume are abdomens?

They are dry and brittle-ish. Thank you for your help, I am trying to remain calm no matter what the verdict.

    Hi,

100% not bedbug, most likely to be partially eaten ladybird abdomens.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I really wish I would've kept the live bug I saw crawling around that kicked off this whole search so I could also ID that, but this brings me TREMENDOUS relief. I cannot thank you enough.
