Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » Uncategorized
Please Help! Anyone!

Hi everyone! My story is this, I just moved into a new apartment. On my first morning of waking up I discovered a dead bug next to me on the bed. There was a stain of blood next to the bug on the sheet. Unfortunately I flushed the bug down the toilet and didn't really think very much of it until a few days ago when I found a nymph roach on in the kitchen. It was identified by Jim (I believe, he posts on this forum). I have been pretty worried for the last few days about this!
So I felt slightly better today, having convinced myself that I don't have bed bugs. I have looked in corners, under furniture, cracks, inspected the mattress and found nothing. Now I know these things are hard to find, especially during the day. I am 95 % sure I have had no bites. People react differently to bites. I do have ache on my back and always have. So if I, in fact, was bitten, it might be hard for me to spot.
My question is: What other bug/insect has blood that is red or orange in color? (I didn't think insects had red blood). Please help! Anyone! I am getting so paranoid over this. Could it have been something else?
Thanks to everyone! Everyone is so great for helping out. :)
Edit: The stain is almost orange in color.

Clover mites are a plant sucker that are tiny but can be red and stain when smashed.

My girlfriend saw the stain and claims it's not blood. Could it have been the guts of a bug that got squished? The stain is slightly orange in color.
Please let me know what you think:)

Drugstore peroxide, the kind used to disinfect cuts, will fizz up on contact with blood. But, I don't know if it fizzes if the stain has set. If it does fizz up, it still won't tell you if it's blood from a bed bug or something else. If it doesn't fizz up, it's not a definite for ruling out bed bugs either, but maybe it'll ease your mind somewhat.
Have you looked at the photos of bed bugs on this site? Did the bug you saw in bed look like that? -

Ok - I went to the store and purchased some Hydrogen Peroxide, applied it to the stain and it fizzed. So it was either blood or bug guts. Hence, bug guts have germs, which cause the Hydrogen Peroxide to fizz. What do you think? Is my theory rational?
