I was a bit alarmed when I seen it but I'm thinking/hoping that it's the back end to an ant

Its the the back end of something but I suspect a spider got the front end.
It should be enough material for an entomological diagnosis but in my experience the less whole the insect the longer it takes to id.
It is not familiar to me but then again it could be a local species to you.
Above all though its 100% not bed bug.

Surely not a bedbug and surely not a spider (they don't have segmented abdomen).
IMHO it's the terminal part of a fly's abdomen... -
