    Hi,

Can someone please identify the bug in the photo link below. I took 3 pics. From what I can tell, it is not a bed bug (though I am here for reassurance). I was sitting on the chair and felt a pinch and found this thing hanging from my elbow. Thanks!!!

Not a BB for sure but wait for an entomologist to ID that.

    Nice clear shots for ID.

How big is it? Where do you live? Can you get a picture that is a little closer and a little more in focus?

I live in Chicago, IL. I'll try to get more shots up tomorrow with size approximation (it's pretty small).

It's NOT a bed bug or a spider.

It's an insect: three pair of legs, three body regions (head, thorax, abdomen)

While this critter looks a tad like an ant lion, it's not. The large jaws/mandibles looking things are unique and characteristic of certain types of insects so it won't take long to figure this critter out.

However, I'm headed to the hospital this morning and simply "gotta go" but, I'd bet my last dollar that Lou can figure it out for us sometime today.

    Have a great day ! paul b.

Most likely a lacewing larva and yes they will nip you. I've had it happen. Mandibles and maxillae are fused. Adults are flimsy and often green. Larvae and adults are good biocontrol agents.
