I just found out I have a very small infestation (though who knows how far they may have wandered).
I have quite a few papers around - and would like to go through them and file them. I hear bbs like papers. Have you been advised to quarantine papers in file cabinets too? How careful should I be?Also, what recommendations do you have for bagging and storing books. Do you seal them in bags, then put those in plastic bins (so bags don't rip and they can be stacked)? Any other suggestions?

Ouch. Welcome. Different PCOs have different approaches to this. If you're going for treatment, it may pay to shop for one who's a. good and b. uses a highly targeted approach. Also, do scan the boards and FAQs. If bagging is necessary, protecting the bags via plastic bins (cheap at Home Depot) sounds smart. I've seen file boxes with rubber gaskets and snap down latches at Office Depot. You could also "triage" your things and treat the items you expect to need soon (perhaps freeze or pack tight), bag the items you don't need now, toss (properly) the things you really don't need. Again, work with your PCO. Do not assume that you need to do anything. Some PCOs say "don't disturb anything". We're here for you. Best of luck in your battle.

The packtite is the best bet for papers, yarn and the like. I have found many "cooked" bugs in my cd binder, books and papers that have been in the packtite. Freezing is not a sure kill unless you are going to leave your papers in the freezer for many many months. I'm not sure how many months, but the experts here could tell you.
I can tell you bed bugs love paper, yarn, fabric, but most of all you. Best of luck to you.
