panicking...is this "breakfast, lunch and dinner"???
(9 posts)-
hi, all - i just had the whole apartment exterminated after i found bed bugs in mid-May. the last extermination was june 1, and i the previous week i had thrown out my old mattress/box springs and i have since bought new ones, and had the lab-certified-against-bed-bugs mattress and box spring covers put on them immediately (the bed delivery people helped me with it.) now, i have this little appearance on my ankle. it was monday night, and i was in the rehearsal studio when i started feeling itchy....

i have been driving myself half-crazy every night and every morning looking for signs of bedbugs. from reading some posts on this site, i see that i am not the only who is being driven mad by these things. if i got bit again, could they be in the apartment again?? or could i have gotten it from the rehearsal studio? i went to a dermatologist today and he said they are bites, but he doesnt think they are from bedbugs, maybe more like mosquitoes, because bedbugs, he said, tend to bite more in like trails and there are usually a lot more bites. but then i hit this site and i read about "breakfast, lunch, dinner", three bites...just like i have....
please someone help me identify if these are bedbug bites or something else. and if they are, where the heck could they be living?? my bed is BRAND new, and completely sealed by these mattress and boxsprings covers...
HELP!!

Hi there..]
i'm sorry to see those three red patches. Do they look like the ones you got before when you had bed bugs?
Also...you mention rehearsal studio. What type of studio is it? Are there many people coming in and out? Sounds like it might be an easy place to pick up a bug. You may have to have some protocol for bagging what you wear at the studio before entering your home..i don't know quite how you can do that...but also watch your bag or knapsack and shoes and any work out or rehearsal items that you probably don't wash and dry after every rehearsal.

umm...I hate to say this, but...could be.

Do the reactions from those bites feel the same as the ones you suffered before. We have cats and sometimes get bitten by a flea and the reaction is completely different but the bite can be very similar. I have been bitten by mosquitos and they tend to leave a very circular bite. Best of luck

ugh....
i had this only one time before, same spot, during the time i had bb's, but before i figured out i had them. i didnt notice anything else while i had them - my boyfriend got bitten a lot on his upper arm. his bites looked nothing like what i have - his were more like raised bumps and the color of his skin, and mine are not raised at all, just red and itchy. he moved out before i realized i actually had bb's, so i dont have anyone else around getting bitten to compare with. could they be somewhere in the bed, even though there are lab-certified mattress covers and i wash my sheets so regularly (at least once a week, including the top sheet)? i have nothing underneath my bed, i check all around the bed and the pillow with an LED flash light before i go to bed and when i get up and i still see no actual signs of them - no dung, no blood, no casings, and no bugs....
the studio does have carpeting. i am going there today, and will ask them what they do about that kind of thing, just in case. there are TONS of people coming in and out, and i never thought before to put my (fabric) case on something other than the floor.... i am a bit of a germ-a-phobe, so i never put my purse on the floor, and i never walk in the house with my shoes on, and i change my clothes as soon as i come in the house and put them in the closet (not near the bed...) can they travel to my bed all during the night and then go all the way back to the closet?? where are they living???
i just brought my cat a month ago to the vet and they did a full run through on her - wouldnt they have notices fleas, or would i have to specifically ask them to look? would i see signs of fleas if they were in my bed or anywhere else? wouldnt i see fleas on her belly, which i never do (i pet her belly a lot).
thanks for your continued help!

Go to the pet section of the store and get a flea comb and run it over your cat. If it has fleas they are easily found near the base of the tail and around the neck.
Fleas commonly bite below the knee.
You can't diagnose jack squat from a skin reaction picture.

ok, i'll do that, thanks, spideyjg!

and i think that yes...bbs could go from your closet to your bed. i don't know how far away your closet is from your bed, but i'm thinking that it's certainly possible.
I'm thinking yoga studio and oh man, tons of chances of getting all sorts of bugs, including bbs in a yoga studio.
Can you tell your dad what is going on and ask his opinion? At least if you finally decide it's best to cancel your visit it won't come as a surprise at the last minute.
