Packtite video
(3 posts)-
So that everyone is aware since there has been a lot of questions and comments about the packtite unit recently, we've posted an episode about the packtite unit up on BBCTV. http://tv.bedbugcentral.com/index.php/2009/03/bbctv-21-packtite-portable-heating-unit/
This episode was filmed quite a while ago and had been held up for a bunch of different reasons but finally has been loaded on the site. I will be the first one to admit that it's nothing ground breaking. It's really just a quick demonstration on how to use the unit and that I do think it can play a significant role in managing and controlling bed bugs. I had noticed a lot of questions about the unit up on the boards recently and pushed for it to get posted ASAP to try and address some of those questions. The reason why the episode doesn't go into too much detail about how effective the unit can be is because we just haven't tested it extensively yet. I did take a complex laptop bag and placed heat sensors in all of the different pockets, some closed, some open, etc... and found that the four hour heating cycle was more than enough for the heat to penetrate all areas of the laptop bag to a level that would be lethal for bed bugs. Outside of that, we just haven't had the time to test the unit extensively so I avoided making any bigger conclusions.
Side note: We'll also be putting up a long long long overdue "friends of BBCTV" window on the page and Bedbugger will be one of the first links to go up. I thank Nobugs for allowing me to post these links up on the boards in an effort to educate anybody who's looking for the information.
Hope this helps.
