Packtite Original vs. Packtite Closet??
(4 posts)-
Which one?
Are there people out there who bought an original and wish they had bought (or could've bought) a Closet? Anyone who thinks the Closet is bigger than they need?
Primarily, we'll be using it for clothing, luggage, and other items that come in/go out of the house. It would probably be used every day for the clothing, backpacks, purses, shoes, library books, etc. of two adults and one toddler.
If it's truly worth it, I can come up with the extra $300 but am not sure if I need the extra space in the Closet. FYI - we have a pretty big house so storing it isn't an issue.
Once we get rid of our bed bugs, I will do anything it takes to never have them again. How do you get over the paranoia???!

Hi,
Fist of all I would say if you have the space and funds available its well worth it. Its better to have more capacity than not enough. The main advantage being that once you get used to it and where to place the temperature probe you will be able to do shorter run time and I am sure will develop a schedule of what gets done and when.
Secondly there is very little you can actually do to prevent contact again aside from checking locations on a regular basis and avoiding obvious sources such as seating on public transport, using the PackTite is just about the only true preventative step you can take other than avoidance.
That having been said the second line of defence is early detection and the ability to resolve an issue without massive upheaval to your lives. To this end monitoring with a system that allows early detection and removal of a small infestation is an obvious solution. Although I am undoubtedly biased it is after all that the passive was invented for.
Finally though getting over the anxiety is something that comes with time. Different people respond in different ways and also recover from exposure in different ways, some cope better than others. It all depends on how you deal with things, a lot of people get relief through structure and order. This is easily done with check lists and processes although you should try and keep them as simple as possible for that they do not become obsessions.
Hope that helps.

The main reason I wanted the closet was to treat my luggage. I ended getting the traditional Packtite for lack of funds, and I was still able to treat my suitcases in it. A lot fits in! And I found that if you don't stuff with a lot of things, it gets hot pretty fast. I live alone, so that's another reason why the closet ended up not being a necessity for me. I'd say that for a family, it's probably well worth it if you can find the money. If not, the normal Packtite is great too
