    Hi all,

I live in a studio whose door opens to a open pathway outside. I am going to acquire a packtite soon. But i was wondering if I can use it inside my studio ? Its an L shaped room with the door and the kitchen in one part of the L, and the living part and the sleeping part in the other. So is it safe if I set up the packtite right next to the door and treat my items there and bag them right away ? I have a low level infestation. Also I am undergoing chemical treatment in my studio in a weekly manner ( apparently ), is it safe if I leave start sweeping the studio from the door side towards the bed side while packtiting the stuff without bagging all of them ? I guess not, but just wanted to check.

    Thanks,
    zedd4x

    Hi Zedd,
Glad to hear you have a PackTite coming. You want to use it indoors because it is not insulated, so the ambient temperature plays a role in how quickly kill temperature is reached. We originally planned to use ours in an uninsulated garage - quickly learned that was not an option.
Here is a link to the manual. It should give you a good idea of its operation, plus there are a ton of videos David has uploaded to Youtube. Going through your belongings in a methodical method as you describe your sweep sounds suitable, followed by your bagging to ensure they stay 'clean'. You will enjoy your PackTite.

Thanks for all your wonderful support guys. BedBugMutts, I will definitely read the manual. I just ordered the thing today, will start my procedure when I get it this Monday.
edtt, I did find one locally and it worked out fine. Thanks a lot Sorry Nobugsonme I had no luck getting it from allergy guy since they are still out of stock and I want to get rid of the infestation sooner than later ... But thanks a lot for all your help here. Also thanks for the link. Let me take a look at the FAQ.

I will set it up inside my studio, hopefully no bed bugs will get inside the bags I use to pack the clean items while I do it. Chance of that happening is pretty low IMHO.

If you're bagging them in giant Ziplocs, just don't open the bag until you're finished Packtiting that load. Even if you didn't live in a studio, this would be an issue b/c you'd have to worry about bringing them into another room. Good luck.

Do you mean I should put everything in the ziplock in one shot ? And yes I am going to use the XXL ones. I get my packtite today hopefully and will start the treatment. Just wondering if I could take this up to the Residence Life Manager and ask them for a refund of my rent, this is causing me so much hassle and pain. Do you guys think that's a reasonable request ? Thanks !
