PackTite: a few questions
(2 posts)-
I know PackTite must be effective on clothing but how long does it take? And is it safe for all types of fabrics and stuff with sequins/beading? I just want to make sure nothing will melt. I’m thinking for $300 it might be better than having to dry clean all the stuff in my house, but before I invest in it I just wanted to make sure it’ll work on most of my stuff.
Also I’ve read on this forum that it works on books/shoes/bags but is it ok for my laptop and other electronics like a portable fan? What about old VHS/cd’s/cassettes? I don’t know if it has been infested. I’m spending thousands on a PCO to come and exterminate place and I just don’t want to get reinfested b/c of something stupid I’ve overlooked.

I've noticed that whenever I packtite only clothes the temperatures inside reach in the 140's which is likely to melt tiny sequence and such...but I'm no expert on how to use a packtite. If I were you I would never heat treat a laptop or any electronics because it will damage these things with high heat. As for the portable fan I'm not sure about the motor if it would be damaged by the heat as well. I know it's a lot of trial and error when I use it. I have damaged some shoes (flats) and I have melted crayons...lol Hope this helps.
