    hi, folks:

we had our second professional (suspend) treatment 5 days ago, and we're getting our Packtite in *three days* (my heart is pounding).

in any event, if we start to open the gigantic clear can liners we have most of our stuff in -- in order to put manageable piles into the Packtite, do we risk making things worse for ourselves before they get better?

because i'm still being bitten, although i haven't seen any BB evidence lately (though our floors and rugs are reds and browns, so they've always been difficult to see -- perhaps nymphs are getting me?), i'm thinking of scheduling another treatment.

should we not open any bags until after that?

    any advice is appreciated.

    thank you,

My situation is a little different because I am further along in the process -- my apt. was treated 3 times in August, cleared by a bedbug dog in September, and though it's been hard to make myself believe it, it does seem that the bugs are probably gone from my apartment (I still have random itches but no definitive bites as before).

I've ordered a Packtite and am eager to begin treating my belongings, all of which are still sealed up (I inspected/cleaned them, then put them in huge clear trash bags, then inside plastic bins for easier stacking, then another clear plastic bag around that). Clearly, I can't put the whole thing into the Packtite as is, but I'm definitely a bit nervous about opening them in order to take items out and put into the Packtite.

Any advice from others would be much appreciated! (I'm sure there are others who have been in a similar situation.) Thank you!

I think what I would do if the huge clear trash bags are "small" enough (they probably are since I doubt they are larger than a suitcase) is take one filled clear trash bag and put the whole thing into the packtite and while it's in the packtite, open it and dump the contents out so they aren't still in the plastic bag, insert thermometer probe between 2 heavy items, zip packtite up and turn it on immediately. Make sure nothing (bed bugs) is on your arms/hands, and let the packtite do its magic. You can even leave the ripped up plastic trash bag in the packtite, although I'd try and put it on the side away from the heater. Hope this helps.

    thank you, nycbb and MWF.

i've been trying to fit the whole bag into the packtite. if it doesn't fit, i'll open the bag, carefully pull out some of the clothing, place that into another bag and seal that bag immediately. then i'll carefully stick the thermometer into the bag in the packtite, and quickly zip it closed.

i've also sprayed down the area of the "packtite worksite" with sprayway goodnight.

hopefully, no bites will ensue...so far, so good.
