Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » Detection / Identification of bed bugs

Ok Question,
Lately my wife is finding bites on her legs and upper ankles. I am worried that we might have bed bugs...
We have been living in an old apartment for 5 months now. We got a new kitten 4 months ago.... and we discovered that the kitten has fleas about 2 months ago. So we immediately went to the vet and got treatment. This treatment takes time so we are still seeing the random flea around the carpets about once a week.
At the start of October we left the apartment and travelled. We stayed in a relatives home and slept in a bed in the basement. (I have no idea how old the bed was). My wife complained about feeling itchy and felt there was something wrong with the bed. I had no symptoms and slept fine......We did not give this much thought.
SO now we return and a week after we get back, my wife has read bit marks on her legs that are very itchy. She notices it became more inflamed when she was sitting on our futon. (also old, we are getting rid of it tommorow). We are not sure if she gets the bites after sleeping in the bed but I have not ruled that out.
We checked the bed frame for any visible sign but there is nothing. Could the bites just be fleas? Or from the other bed at the relatives house?
They are very spaced out and not clustered together. They are inflamed for about a day and then start to fade.... She has not noticed and recent bites for a few days, im just concerned. I am sleeping fine in the bed and show No signs whatsoever.....
Anyway, any thoughts on this would be great.

anybodt have thoughts on this? I did a full inspection of my matress and boxspring and found no visible signs of bed bugs.... im just paranoid to go to bed now. I mean, since we are aware that our cat has a flea problem, its most likely fleas right? there are no bites on arms shoulders, or back....

Chances are good its fleas as it is the most logical conclusion. It is definetly a good sign that you found no evidence in your bedding. It is also quite common for fleas to go after humans aggresively after being left without a host for a while, when you were on vacation was the cat gone too? If so, that is a really common occurence as the fleas aren't so picky after being without a meal for a while

I got bit up by fleas every time staying at a friend's house in CA who had pets. They bit my ankles and lower legs. Super itchy. Even after a flea bath on the pet, I think the fleas hang around in the carpet and furniture. Some people react and others don't. My friends never got bite reactions, so they rarely bombed the house - just bathed the pets. My husband never got bite reactions either.
It sounds like your wife is getting flea bites. Mine were in the same places, super itchy and took a while to subside. I think I'm sensitive to bug bites of all kinds.
