A have bad allergies towards scented things. What's a good unscented type of oil to use under my bed posts? Or will plain water do?

I put double-sided carpet tape around plastic containers and sat my bed posts in them (after isolating my bed). I'm not sure what, if any, the advantage is to using an oil over that.

Descented kerosene-lamp oil is available in some hardware stores. I wonder if that would work for bedbugs and not be an allergic substance?

    Mineral oil should be unscented.

Some also use tea tree which has a natural scent some like, others don't.

Deodorized kerosene aka deobase oil is not something you want to breathe especially for someone with allergy issues. It is a fuel oil which evaporates into the air you breathe. In addition it posses a significant fire hazard.

nobugs - can you tell us why mineral oil should be unscented? Do you mean that baby oil shouldn't be used?

pleasehelp--the original poster wanted to know what kind of oil is unscented. I'm saying mineral oil. Sorry--my response only makes sense in context. There's no reason you can't use scented oil to my knowledge. :-)

WhatNext, I think the advantage of using oil over water is that water evaporates and has to be monitored more closely (to be refilled).
