Did anyone notice this - it's an article about a blossoming music/jazz community in two buildings on Ocean Ave in Brooklyn.

The article totally makes light of the building's bedbug problem and instead focuses on how wonderful the building is because of the music connections:

"And the odd bedbug invasion aside, consider the alternatives, say the French couple Willemine Dassonville, 28, and Julien Augier, 33. She’s a ceramist, he plays drums, and they fled a house-sitting gig in Greenwich, Conn., where, Ms. Dassonville suggested, they were dying of ennui. "

The Bedbug Registry has this building listed and the comment from Feb 2009 says:
"there have been several apts in this building with bed bugs, they seem to be moving from apt to apt. so far i've heard of atleast 5 apts with bed bugs, on the 2nd floor,6th floor, and 5th floor. "

The article is called "Musicians Preferred; Loud Music OK" and is part of "Habitats - Prospect Lefferts Gardens" in the NY Times on Sunday, May 3, 2009.

The bedbug registry report can be found by googling 99 Ocean Ave Brooklyn

    That's terrible!

And btw, I see two listings on the bedbugregistry for 99 Ocean Ave (one with a zip + 4):

    and

I'll let Maciej know... in case he can fix it.

Making light may be a function of perspective. People have different thresholds, come from different backgrounds and if the situation is being attended to; it may in short order be indeed a
    desirable place to live.

Well, the bed bugs are bound to cure their "ennui" problem. They sound like jerks.

I guess the loud music doesn't matter, 'cause nobody wants to go to sleep in their infested beds.

What's awful is that somebody out there will believe their lighthearted attitude about BBs (not knowing any better) and move into a nightmare. I already feel sorry for that tennant.

The latest "The Hunt" column. Doesn't mention bedbugs but probably should!!

The most recent column is about a very picky apartment hunter. She doesn't really like apartments that are all shiny and new, so she hunts and hunts for one with more character. She finally finds the perfect one bedroom in a brownstone in Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Here is a quote from the article.

"On her first morning there, “I was so happy I was beaming,” she said. Her new home is everything she wanted. Her furniture, most of it suitably worn, was found online or recycled from the street. "

    This made me shudder.

I want to run for mayor on a campaign of just say no to free furniture.
