Not sure if I a getting bit or not!!
(8 posts)-
I had thermal done last Tuesday and while it seems like maybe it is over and I am not getting bit,
in the last few days I still seem to be experiencing the formation of those little red pimples on me. It could be my imagination but a lot of times it seems when one appears there is a second not too far away. A lot of the marks on me that I already had are still healing so I can't be sure what is new and what isn't but I swear there are new ones that weren't there before.I also know you can't determine anything by marks on your skin, and that dermatologist won't really be able to help, and especially that no one here can probably help even if I was to post photos.
How does one really honestly find out whether or something is a bite and that there is a bug hiding out somewhere vs. just guessing??
How would a bite behave differently from an actual pimple per se? They seem to be common on my thighs after I shave. When I woke up Wed morning after the treatment my legs were very itchy but I put the blame on the bath scrub I used the night before. However, on my right thigh was a pretty pronounced bump and it was a little itchy. One appeared on the inside of my upper left arm yesterday, and that was itchy. A couple inches down near the bend of the arm there are a couple red marks.
Really need to talk to someone who knows what they are doing who may be able to issue an experimental bite to see how I react to it.
Still have the passive monitor under my mattress though it never wielded any results.
HOW DO I KNOW IF THEY ARE REALLY GONE????
Every time I get a persistently itchy spot, sort of like I am feeling now on my neck, ithcy and burning and stinging, and bumps appear, I assume.

Please someone respond.

Nope, thermal is not a sure thing, they can be the car. In your phone, In your belt, any number of things that was not treated, then reinfection happens, this is why residuals in their usually harbor sites are the best way to treat them.

That' s all well and good if we know WHERE they are harbouring. Unfortunately that was not possible given my house. I did not take anything from the house the day I was treated and the car was searched with the K9 and nothing.

You're asking people to offer you 'proof' that you no longer have bed bugs, but I think that you know intellectually that what you're asking for is impossible. Nonetheless you haven't found any evidence of an infestation in several weeks (months?), despite having looked closely for it and including having installed passive monitors. And on top of that you just had a thermal treatment. So there is a *lot* of reason to believe that you no longer have an infestation.
I think that I've mentioned this to you before, but having read a lot of your posts, I suspect that we have very similar skin. I don't have nor have I ever had bed bugs, but during the period when I thought that I might and was checking my skin closely I was constantly finding various and assorted small marks and red spots. Since I've stopped thinking about bed bugs, I've stopped noticing the marks.
Here's my advice to you. Take as your working assumption that you *don't* have an infestation (which is very likely true) and go with that unless and until you find evidence to the contrary. Good luck!

One piece of your post I forgot to comment on was the idea of subjecting yourself to an experimental bite. I actually think that that's an interesting thought though before you expend the time and energy to track down a source, convince yourself that you'll really accept the results as dispositive. In other words, if your reaction to the bite is dissimilar from the the marks you're finding on your body, convince yourself that you won't drive yourself crazy with the possibility that, for example, location matters and maybe if the test bite were administered on a different part of your body, the results would have looked more like what you see.

Actually I am looking for information about bites and reactions, if there is anyone who has or had known bites that can be compared to non bite related things.
I still find it incredibly strange to just look at my stomach and suddenly along the waist band area see two identical red puncture holes. And see a nice little even collection of the same thing on my wrist, and have random pimples appear on my thigh, arm, odd places on my face, etc.
I never had things like this before, never had marks of this type. Didn't start having marks on my body like this until around the same time I am guessing we first got the bugs. Even with all the monitoring and searching I still discovered a harbouring location before the thermal that really showed by obvious signs of activity. I found it by accident and removed it. Just because someone has monitors out that reveal nothing... you know.
I had also gone at one point about a month without seeing a live bug and just happened to see one one night. I have a hard time believing the same can't happen again.
I'm sorry, but perfect rows and pairs of unexplained red puncture marks just don't happen for no reason. Nor do pimples itch, especially when they are first forming in an area and THEN show up.

Hello Victimized,
What is the update on this story? I am experiencing almost the same thing--we had a PCO come in (a second one in 4 months, also after spending 3 times on faulty canine inspections) and he guaranteed that there were no bbs in the apt, but I still wake up with marks that look like bites (like a red pimple, as you've written, too), sometimes in rows, sometimes singles, on my torso. Our bedframe has been sprayed, dusted with DE, and it has traps on the legs. Everything we could think of doing, we've done. I went to my dermatologist, who said she didn't see any signs that were typically bb-related. And yet I still have these marks!
Victimized--what did you do? Did you just wait it out to see if things got worse? Thank you for any help you can give me! I just feel that I'm going crazy and that this is completely hopeless.
