Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » Detection / Identification of bed bugs
No signs of bugs, but do have bites. What next?
(2 posts)-
I have spent a great deal of time on this site in the past few days. I have a several small bites (clusters of 2 or 3 small red dots - probably a total of 10 bites). Some are itchy and some aren't. They usually show up in the evening. I encased my mattress, box spring, and pillows a few days ago and have washed sheets and comforters in hot water twice since Thursday. I have scoured my bed, floorboards, baseboards, and bed frame for any signs of bed bugs. I haven't found a thing. No blood stains, no fecal matter, no bugs whatsoever. I have been vaccuuming and looking with a flashlight at night. So far, no real evidence other than the bites.
My question is, how long should I wait before taking further action? Should I wait a week or two to see if any new bites show up? If not, I would assume that anything that was biting me is trapped in the encasements. How likely is it that there are other bugs outside of the encasements? I don't want to have to go through the process of getting a PCO, especially since I will have to do it through my landlord/apartment building.
Should I wait it out for a few days and monitor the situation?

i would wait and monitor
even though "doing nothing" is so very hard to do in this situation
you can't really do anything until you catch, or see, AND identify a bug
you don't want to do the wrong thing and spread them
or fill your house with poison if you don't have them
or spend money unnecessarily
but if you see even one little bugger
spend for the best advice and treatment you can getin the meantime, maybe buy some climb-ups for your bed,
although i have heard mixed reviews on these
we have them on ours after 4 treatments (2 traditional, 2 thermal)
but still have some suspicious bites
we have not caught a thing (well, no bb's, just other insects)
which we hope is a good signanyway, climb-ups should now be standard accoutrement for life in the modern world
i predict soon that all the hippest households will have them
maybe i should buy stock in their company...
