Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » Uncategorized
no one will take cat during spraying
(2 posts)-
So, I'm one of the unlucky ones, just found some of the nasty buggers the other day. Called the landlord, and my place gets sprayed on Monday. My problem is I have no where to take my cat. My sister initially agreed, but now she is afraid to take him incase he brings them with him. Is there anything I can tell her to convince her he is safe to bring. I would bathe and brush him before hand. I'm really hoping someone has some advice or suggestions on what to do. Thank you in advance!

Ask your sister to consider how the cat could spread bed bugs to her. Assuming that you're just delivering the cat, and nothing else (i.e. no travel container, no toys, etc) there are two concerns she might have:
- Bed bug eggs on the cat
- Live bed bugs on the cat
Inform your sister that bed bugs don't stick around on their "hosts"; they feed and leave. Also inform her that bed bugs don't lay eggs on their hosts. It's very unlikely that there will be any bugs on your cat during the day, and even more unlikely that they'd remain on the cat on the way to your sister's.Brushing the cat has a minuscule chance of removing any bed bugs that do happen to be on it (nymphs are really small!).
Bathing the cat is an interesting idea... Has anyone tried submerging bed bugs in water? Do they make a run for it, or do they cling?
