HI everyone! New here and to BBs.

It just started a week ago. I have no idea how we became infested. We live in a single family home, we do not visit people(too busy) I was wondering if they could travel form house to house on their own? I had a neighbor abandon their home a few months ago, that left everything they owned(clothes,beds,well..EVERYTHING). I thought it was fleas, but I found one(full of blood) crawling on my comforter. I grabbed it with tissue and killed it, then was using Google a moment later. Yes I do in fact have BBs(YUCK). My husband shows no signs of being bitten, myself on the other hand, covered in bites, some in a line, some in a circular pattern, and itch/burn like nothing I have ever felt.
We unfortunately do not have to cash to fork over for a professional. We just did $2,000 of work on our car and a $1000 buying stuff to remodel our bedroom, then this happens. We will be tearing out our carpet this weekend to put down tile as planned.

I am interested in using DE and would like to know what brand would be best. I know it has to be food grade, but I have no idea on where to buy or which brand.

My advice: Beg, borrow, or steal to have your home professionally treated (by a company that knows what they're doing, as opposed to the ones treating my apartment) before your infestation gets out of control.

Well the tile was purchased 2 weeks ago and was waiting for husbands vacation to put it
    down.
Anyway. After we traveled an hour to the closet feed store to get DE, My father finally returned my call, 3 hours later as we pulled into the lot He is a contractor and has a friend that is a PCO. He agreed to do it, no charge in exchange for work he needs done. He told is to go ahead and rip up the carpet and dispose of it and leave the bare floor until after he treats the house.

All of our bedding is being thrown out, including pillows, and we bought zippered mattress and pillow covers that are made to protect from BBs. We are going to apply duct tape along the zipper, just to make sure none escape. We are going to buy a new mattress set once we are sure they are gone.

I seriously cannot think of how this happened. It makes me feel dirty and I am an extreme clean freak, almost on an OCD level.

Keep in mind most people toss out things they don't need to.

If you are throwing things out, seal them (airtight) in bags before moving them, or you may spread bed bugs further.

We put them in thick lawn bags, tied and taped them shut. Then instead of carrying them through the house, we put them out our bedroom window.

My father's friend arrived a few minutes ago and is checking the house from the attic to the basement, before he starts treating. We are heading out for the day.
