I’ve been reading about other’s experiences and wanted to share my own with a few questions included.

First, the bites started about maximum 5 months ago. At first I noticed little mosquito marks only on my breast. Those marks stayed and lasted for about two months. Then gradually, the bites started showing on my arm. I wasn’t too worried until my two arms had many bite marks. Lots of things were going thru my mind (dry skin, change of soap, allergy reaction, Noxzema, bla bla bla…)

Second, I was fed up and decided to go to the doctors. He took one look at me and said “Oh yes, scabies. I’ll prescribe this cream for you and it will be over in two treatments”. Alright, so I go to the pharmacy but they didn’t have any so I had to come back the next day. Meanwhile, I Google scabies and talked to others about it and it wasn’t the same markings. Anyway, I got the cream the following day, I organized another sleeping area and everything. I even called a friend over to help me put the cream in my back. One step to take towards scabies is vacuuming all surfaces in order to get rid of the mite. Also, put all the clothes that was warn in the last 3 days into the dryer. So I do that and vacuumed the sofa, the floor, the carpet, the bed and when I got to the box spring I saw…

Third, on December 22 2011 I found bed bugs resting on my box spring! I started crying, flipping out since I just finished saying to my friend that the treatment for scabies was a joke and bed bugs would be my deepest nightmare. My friend, who was there to help with the cream, ran in my bedroom and noticed what I was crying about. So the bed and the box spring were automatically thrown out! I called my building management to put in a work order ASAP for an exterminator. I couldn’t get one until January 3rd 2012. Therefore, I called one of my friends that is an exterminator while crying and flipping out. He came to my house on December 22 at 8:30pm to quickly spray the areas around my bed and every baseboard in my apartment.

 Forth, couple days later I noticed my curtain in my closet was full of little tinny things crawling everywhere on it. I inspected my room after December 22 but didn’t notice them so they must have just hatched. And I was working in my closet not too long ago installing shelves and never saw anything. So guess what, the curtains also went into the garbage. I had a rain coat on and glove to throw them out. I did notice 3 medium size bed bugs dead/dried up on the floor.

 5th. I returned the scabies cream at the pharmacy since it’s almost 30$ each. I have my first spray from the building management on January 3 2012. It’s been exhausting trying to juggle work, cleaning the apartment and everything. I’m living out of garbage bags and my balcony is full of bags with clothes.

January 16 2012 I approached my boss and told her that I had enough. I need sleep and I can’t juggle work and cleaning the apartment so I received 2 days off to prepare for the next treatment.

 I received my second spray from the building management on January 19 2012. The exterminator laughed at me since I had sticky traps on the bottom of every leg that my sofa has. I’ve been sleeping on my sofa and it’s extremely uncomfortable. He also didn’t see any bugs so he’s not coming for a third treatment. I also have powder that I’ve put in the electric socket near the area that was affected. I also put powder in my TV that was near the curtain.

It wasn’t an infestation. I only had about 8 bed bugs on my box spring that I put in a zip lock. My curtains had white shedding and babies crawling everywhere. I should have inspected my curtain more since I didn’t see adults ones. I’m guessing that they were hiding in my curtain. Could this be it??? Is it possible that if a bed bug problem is detected early and treated that the nightmare is over?

I have full intentions on continuing to prepare my apartment in case that I need a 3rd treatment. I didn’t see any adults and I’m still searching for them. Or maybe the nest was in my curtains!?!?!?!!?!?!?!!?

    Questions:
    (1) Do you need to wash & dry every piece of clothing? Can’t the dryer be enough alone for two cycles?
    (2) Is it possible that I detected and treated the infected area and that my problem is solved?
    (3) I have sticky trapped and monitoring traps but I don’t see any. Could they be gone that easy?
    (4) Could they go in an isolated room full of stuff but that didn’t have any human contact in years?? Should I empty that stock room?

Also, the bites are still there but no longer intense. I don't think I'm getting new ones but it's hard to tell since I have very dry skin during winter.

hi unbelievable, my questions were somewhat similar to yours. mostly, is it really possible to get rid of these creatures solo? how many applications are needed? i've lots of bites but no bug evidence yet. also i'm in a house not an apartment. major treatment challenge, but at least no risk of neighboring apartments. how are you doing? i hope all's is going well.

Almost 5 months later… I’ve received 3 sprays all together and no sign of them anymore. I’ve been camping in my apartment ever since because the preparation was intense. I’ve checked every books page by page. I flipped my remaining furniture and checked every crack with a magnifying glass. I’ve seen many dried up and dead but none alive. What a nightmare that was!!!!

The next step is to hire cleaners to come and wash all walls and baseboards (since I work too much, I have no time and I haven’t washed my floors in a while). Then, I’ll put the insect power under the baseboards while cocking every inch of cracks.

I still can’t believe that I had those biting me while I was sleeping. It’s the most disgusting, scary, unbelievable experience EVER! I still can’t accept and believe that it’s over so I’m still camping in my apartment. I’ll wait a while before buying a new bed and sofa for sure!

This experience affected me mentally. It isolated me since I was avoiding going anywhere in case these f*ckers would fallow me. Also, the sensation of feeling like they are walking all over you when nothing is there it’s crazy. You feel like you’re alone in your own little world since no one wanted to come and help me. Personally, I understand since I would myself stay away from someone with those living in their house/apartment.

Now I monitor everything like an insane crazy cat lady!!!!
