Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » Introductions
New here, severe infestation, any help appreciated.

Hello everyone (I am typing this again thanks to a power outage)
Here's my nightmare. Please help, if anything to share.
2 weeks ago my son came to me saying he was itchy. I looked and he was covered head to toe in a rash. I thought he had found a poison plant and played in it, or had measles.
Thanks to google, and knowing he'd been immunized, we found the bed bugs. 3 came out to say hi as I pulled the sheet off.
Now I'm looking back and remembering all the rashes and itching over the last year that I've had. And the strange bug I killed at 4 am in the bathroom. And the 4 bites on my son in June.I called the landlord. That was a mess. He said we should be living in the ghetto. It was horrible. I had offered to pay for 1/2 of the extermination (we live in Nevada). He said no, get out of my house. Pack up your stuff and leave. Then he transferred the house over to a property manager.
Luckily, she knows that they need to treat the house. Unfortunately, I don't get to pick the PCO. They are coming on Wed. The secretary couldn't tell me what chemicals were to be used, only she said a "fog" and a chemical spray so we need to seal all food, and leave the house for the day. No heat....
The house is badly infested, I never knew to look IN the bedframe of my daughters bed. We clean and vacuum all the time. I have 6 & 7 year old boys, so yes, stuff is always on the floor if only for an hour. Kids track their toys all over the house to play with them, and then put them away.
Am I the only one who thought bed bugs were a nasty nursery rhyme? I've never heard of them except that some hotels in NY were having them. We don't stay in hotels. I've never been past Missouri... The previous renter did though. I know in my heart I did not bring them here, but I feel ashamed anyway. The stigma associated with these things is horrible! I feel bad I didn't catch them sooner. It never occured to me that a blood sucking night crawling insect was in my home. Now we sleep in a tent. My couch has been taped shut and tape sticky side up put all around it so I can sit on it.
Right now, we clean and bag, hot water and dry. But what about the rest of the stuff. Please fellow PCO's help me. We have to move in 2 weeks, how do I keep them away. Do I believe this PCO that comes out to "fog", what if he says he can treat the couch? Should I keep it and let him? My belongings aren't going to get the 2nd and 3rd treatment that the house is getting. In fact, I'm lucky to get this treatment at all.
We are throwing away 3 mattresses, 2 bedframes, 2 couches, and whatever else needs to go. What about Nuvan strips? Can I use those with black bagging for the stuff that can't handle heat/steam? Are they safe? Do bedbugs crawl into Legos? What about electronics? Is there a spray for bookcases etc. that would kill eggs. I don't want to douse the house in alcohol because of the fire hazard. We don't have much money, and I'm at a point of just throwing it out and doing without. I would like to keep our computers and TV's though. We are going to buy a garment steamer to help with this.
This has made me crazy. Insomnia, nightmares ect. The last time I slept in my bed, one crawled out of my pants as I had my coffee. I ripped off all my clothes threw them outside and ran screaming in the house. I believe I have a phobia....
Any help, or just thoughts? I am the only one I know that has BB. And everyone I try to tell about it just starts scratching themselves....

Hope I didn't offend any NY'ers. It was meant more as a sarcasm for those of us out West that didn't realize they are everywhere now.
got to run and wash dry and black bag....Any info on "fog", nuvan/hotshot or personal stories would be greatly appreciated!
Oh, and FYI my boy's bunk bed is steel. Yes, they climb steel too. Both mattress were infected.

No foggers or bug bombs. Regardless of what the label says, those products will not help you & will almost certainly make the problem worse.
Whatever KQ tells you - stick to that like glue. Don't add, subtract, or improvise. He's BB-extermination royalty. I know it's tempting to go looking for extra input but BBs need a relentlessly methodical approach.
The really useful thing you can do to help yourself (apart from sticking to KQ's advice) is to go through the FAQs on this site with all the attention you'd give to preparing for an important exam. The FAQs will give you a better understanding of BBs so you'll know why you're advised to do certain things or to avoid doing other things.
They'll also save you from a lot of the newbie errors that most of us make on first discovering BBs.

No foggers or bug bombs. Regardless of what the label says, those products will not help you & will almost certainly make the problem worse.Yes, I know that. I am very concerned because this is a PCO that's coming out.
Is there a fog that's acceptable? (as in only the PCO's have it) Or do I need to have a big arguement when he gets there.
On otherside, if it just spreads it further into the walls, well, than my evil LL can deal with it. I offered to have the company come out and do it right and I'd pay 1/2. Instead he's kicking us out, and he's footing the whole bill (although cheaper). We just want the stuff we can't part with to be treated.
Although I'm start to look around and think what I can do without for 18 mo
All we've done at this point is hot wash and dry, and take down the beds.
Reading more on the Nuvan strips. The new place has a detached shed with a lock. I wonder if that might work for the books and electronics?
